A bit more care and time taken with this shot would have given me a much better capture of this beautiful house 8-( Again taken at Buckfastleigh last Wednesday.

Thanks Richard, but a little further back and I'd have both sides of the arch and a little to the left and the roof would have cleared the edge. So frustrating! Even more so now I'v no camera to play with. Funny isn't it I didn't touch it for months and now I get in a tis because it has gone away for a few weeks. Aggggh!

Oops cross posted. Yes the car is a pain also! but I don't think I'm up to shifting it. lol

yes... have been there myself pat... (if only i'd stepped back a few feet, etc) :] it is a nice place... hope you won't have to wait too long

Not sure if stepping back would do it. you might lose some of the house. But a wider angle lens might get the effect that you are trying for. That would have included the house as you got here and would include more of the wall and archway. PS Don't let my wife see this house or she will want to move to the UK! Magick Michael

I'm sure I've been there and seen it!! September 2001, on holiday in Devon... the doorway arch rings a bell... Lovely area for photos, I wish I'd been more into photography then. I remember a particularly nice ruined castle in the Poole area too. Great shot, Pat. Not sure if I'm on the right track, but maybe playing about with the levels inside the archway may take some of the glare off the house would give it a bit less harshness.... though I dunno if it needs it, looking again! (",)

Pat, I gave it a quick shot - hope you don't mind, hon. Selected the area inside the arch, then quickly ran over with the Burn tool set at 300 pixels. Spot burned a few areas as necessary, then dropped the burn tool to 150 pixels to spot burn a couple more without burning everything around them. (",)

You took a fantastic shot, Pat! fabulous natural framing! and Mike, you did a great job getting rid of that car!

The Shadow/Highlight filter could have given this a similar treatment, but Mike did such a good job that I'm not going to bother trying to best it. Wonderful photo!
