Apologies to anyone trying to download anything from my site but again all the files in my site have been deleted. This time though its across all 6 sites I have. In other words about 120 megs of uploaded files have gone.i'm looking at days if not weeks before I can put this right. I think I give up

So no one repeats the mistake of doing business with those who would destroy art and creativity, who are the philistines?

It happened to me, too. Homestead just decides you don't meet some non-published criteria to have a free site It is really a shame they couldn't be bothered to email the site owner and say something before they did this. Maybe they are trying to build up future bad-will? I know I would never have anything to do with anything they are connected with in the future. But look on the good side, you will no longer get emails from people complaining about not being able to download the files, because Homestead is too busy!

You should get a server somewhere that they dont delete stuff. Even hypermart and virtualave has done it before to a site my friend had, just for running a cgi script that they said "took up to much bandwidth" well sorry for them, but that's what happens when you offer free space. I have my own server for stuff because I was tired of putting up with free servers. but if your server didnt delete it, I just wouldnt give out your user name and pass to anyone.

I don't know what's going on. Thanks for all your support. Below is the message I got from Homestead. It was quite a relief really.Anyway back to making some textures. I have decided however to put together a "proper" site. Time Time always the problem or the answer Thanks for your message. I am sorry for the trouble we have caused you. I was able to get your files restored to your web sites. Please check it out. I can assure you that such deletion occurrences, though not unheard of, are very rare. However, something you might consider doing to protect your work from such mishaps (rare as they are) is to download the offline SiteBuilder, which will enable you to save your pages to your hard disk. You can download the offline SiteBuilder from the following site: ftp://hsdownload.homestead.com/publisher/windows/homestead/instvm.exe If you are unsuccessful downloading from that address, please try the following address: http://hsdownload.homestead.com/publisher/windows/homestead/instvm.exe If I can be of any further assistance to you in this process, or in the process of rebuilding your lost page, please don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks for your patience! All the best, Yoko Homestead Support Wizard http://SupportWizards.homestead.com

Here is the message I got from Homestead when I asked about my deleted files. As you can see, it wasn't some kind of mistake. ******************************************************** I'm sorry for the trouble you've experienced with your site. The problem you describe is most likely associated with imported files. File hosting is a feature we've included as a convenience to those members who make use of our primary service, site building. Unfortunately, however, some Homestead members were abusing our file hosting services by using our servers as parking space for excessively large and/or excessively large numbers of files--without making use of any of our other tools and services. In accordance with our Terms of Service, we've implemented a policy of deleting sites that fit the profile for this type of abuse. We do everything we can to ensure that non-abusing sites are NOT included in the process. However occasionally some legitimate sites are in fact deleted. For this we sincerely apologize! ********************* Oh well, here today, gone tomorrow!
