Alright friends, I have witness something I have never seen before. While at a nearby lake trying to snap a photo of a heron that hangs out there, I saw a most spectacular site. Right over head comes a flock of 30-40 huge birds. I get excited and try and snap a few photos. As they fly by I say to myself those are pelicans!! Now I live in Central Mississippi, 150 miles from the coast, and the last thing I expect to see at the lake are pelicans. So I start to doubt my sanity (ok there is no doubt I am insane, but that is another story). I watch in awe as they fly in formation, each bird flapping their wings in harmony, and gliding so effortlessly. It was like watching a marching band perform each bird flapped and glided in time with the lead bird. After they made a loop around the lake, hoped I had at least a descent shot. Went on about my bird hunting. 20 minutes later here they come again. I run to get a better shot. This time they fly low to water, then circle back toward me. What a beautiful sight as the sun was setting and these birds flew by. From the lake I decided to take some last minute shots for this months challenge. I will post them in another thread. I got home about 9:30 pm and anxiously downloaded the images. As I suspected my lens was just not up to the task, so while I have documented Pelicans in my town, I don't have any good images. I will post a few of them to share with you. It is good to be a photographer!

A tough thing to do when unexpected. I get that excitement too and mess up a ton of shots. Great stuff though.
