Oooh, they're planning to add a modifier stack eventually! Hurray! The manipulators will be a good addition, too; I think the exclusive use of hot keys for those basic functions are a major turn-off to a lot of people.

Well, I really like the idea of DOF in Blender! And I`m happy about sppeding up the subdiv, now I have several 4 times Catmull-Clark subdivided objects in my scene and I got stuck! :)

What is a "modifier stack"?

A modifier stack keeps track of all the changes you make to an object so you can go back and alter a change you made before or remove it without losing everything you've done afterwords (that is, you don't have to hit undo to get back to a change that turned out not to work, you can just go back to that point in the modifier stack and change that one thing). Each object has its own modifier stack, so effectively you can make changes to one object, then another, then go back and undo the changes to the first one without affecting the second. It's explained a little more clearly at the link. BTW, it's also called an operator stack.

Not for several versions, I think. It just said that recoding something else paved the way for modifier stacks. So it sounds like it's a plan but it won't show up for a while.
