Hi! I have been working with oil colors quite a lot, doing Fantastic realism and Fantasy paintings, plus making full color fantasy cartoons. Now, I have just learned to work with Photoshop, and I am quite impressed with it. God! It is like I can make Anything with it! Wow! ...But people seem to work with many softwares, not just one. Is that necessary? Or is Photoshop enough?
If I should get more software, what programs should I import? (If looking at my webpage at www.imagicarts.com you may get an idea of what stuff I do, and what software I could need) ...
And finally, do you think that Photoshop is okay for constructing high quality cartoons (including talk bubbles, etc), or do you know some program that is better suited?

Photoshop is enough really, but yes, quite a few of us do work with multiple programs. For what you want to do, you might consider Corel's Painter. It offers far more options for actual painting. Programs I myself use are Photoshop. Paint Shop Pro Corel Painter Corel Photopaint CorelDraw Why do I use all those? Because each program has different strengths for different things. There are things that are easier to do in Corel PhotoPaint than in Photoshop, and vice versa. Photopaint is equal to Photoshop in most ways, but Photoshop is the standard program. The advantage is that files and images transfer easily between the programs. You also have some other choices for doing what you want to do. There's GIMP, Dogwaffle and Pixia, all of which are excellent programs on their own. GIMP and Pixia are both free programs. And if what you're looking to do is paint, rather than work with photos, GIMP, Dogwaffle or Pixia might be better suited to your purposes. I'm not familiar with GIMP or Dogwaffle really, but i know a lot of anime artists use Pixia.
Talent is God's gift to you. Using it is your gift to God.

Sounds great, Bone!
Really appreciate the reply.
I think I can get all these programs for free.
(Sometimes I am thinking that Photoshop does not have an enough number of filters, but i believe it is possible to import more filters to PS....somewhere... )

Another free program I downloaded recently is ArtRage. ArtRage is a free painting package that lets you play around with realistic painting tools in a simple, intuitive environment. ArtRage lets you paint your own picture from a blank canvas, or load an image to 'trace' using any of its painting tools, letting you recreate your own images as paintings. Not bad for free.
Another thing I would recommend is getting a graphics tablet if you don't already have one. They come in a variety of sizes. It's more natural to draw with a pen shaped tool than a mouse and with the pen you also have pressure-sensitive control of your brush in Photoshop or any other software.

Sounds great if I can recreate own photos like that... getting perfect proportions from the very start. Yep, i will buy a graphics tablet as soon as i get the money. (I wish i get some paid commissions soon... ;)
