Now before i say anything or even before anyone answers this post, i would like to warn you..answer it carefully..i am not very happy at the moment. Now i was using Bryce 5.5 to render a wip i started in bryce 5. It was going to take close on 2 hours to render, lot quicker than the 3.5 hours in bryce 5. I went out to the shops, came home and walked in to see how things were going. Bryce 5.5 had stopped rendering and crashed. The wip was corrupt(yes silly me for not saving a few copies) But the worse thing was soon to hit me in the face. I went to start things in the wip again..only to find that all the models i had left on my hard drive have become corrupt. Now i have to find, buy and download all these models again...oh you say thats bad, yes try downloading 300mb of models on a dialup then see how i feel. Well done those who had anything to do with Bryce 5.5, you have put something together worse than any version of Windows.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Nothing, NOTHING can be worse than Windows! I'm sorry to hear about your crash, man... That really sucks. If there's any way I can help out... I'm not sure how Bryce would be related to your models folder crashing, or did you mean the models IN your Bryce libraries? Backing things up is always a safe option... Bryce 5 and 4 also had a similar bug, where if you put too much stuff in a library folder, it would smoke the whole folder sometimes. Not pretty. Nobody ever figured out how much "too much" was, exactly, either. Best to just zipfile it once a month or so...

LSD, i'm sorry for my mis-typing..i ment to say they were models in the bryce libaries.. some of which i know i won't be able to replace because they are no longer on the market or i have no idea what sites they came from. Well like they say S*** happens :)

Aye, live and learn. Regardless, I'm sure you won't let it happen again if you can help it! Good luck to you.

Thanks guys. I'll just say there is a god. I found out no more than 30 minutes that my stepson still has everything on my old hard-drive which he was going to format this week.

All bar i would say 5 models are on that plus all links to sites i bookmarked and i'll have them back on Wednesday..

Talk about some bad luck turning in to good luck :)

I didn't know that could happen. What a scary story. Much more so than anything I've ever read from Stephen King.

Aye, my object folders are well over 3 GB. Methinks I'll just keep zipping 'em up once a month, and stashing the zip on my other hard-drive... (acident waiting to happen!)
