Yes, I am totally new to Poser, and so far I am totally confused. For starters, I do not even know how to put clothes on my figures! I have followed the P5 Reference Manual, page 66 - Figures > Poser 1-4 > Poser 4 HI > P4 Nude Woman. Then to add clothing (page 68) - Figures > Clothing-Conforming > Clothing-P4 Female, and add Bikini Top by selecting and then clicking the Apply Library Preset button. But the Apply Library Preset button does not show up! I have gone over this countless times, and I still do not get it. Can anyone help me with this?

Sounds like the steps weren't typed-up correctly. To add the Bikini Top, use the double-checkmark button at the bottom of your Library pallette. When you hover your cursor over it, it should read "Create New Figure." Then go into the Figure menu and choose "Conform To..." You will see a window with a dropdown menu. Choose the P4 Nude Woman from the list who is supposed to wear the bikini. (If you only have one P4 Nude Woman in your scene, it's probably labeled as "Figure 1.") Click on "OK." Now, your Posette should be wearing a bikini! :)

She has clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing. I was hoping it'd be that simple! Thank you, thank you, thank you! And those links are absolutely fantastic. Exactly what I need! If there are any other tutorials out there (for newbies) please let me know.

Just search here for Dr Geep. He's written dozens of them... with humor and step-by-step explanations.

You're welcome, nontoxic! :) Hauksdottir is right about Geep, they're great tutorials. You can find about half of them listed on this page (really could stand to be updated): http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=2063281 "Crescent" also has some downloadable PDFs of Geep's tutorials here: http://www.ebonshire.net/tut-geep/index.php It may be closer to being a complete list. Beyond that, you could do a search in the forum for "+++ DG#" His tutorials always seem to have names that start out like that.

Yeah, I've already been digging into Geep's tutorials. Extremely helpful. It's nice to see them in PDF, though. I'm presently printing a few of them off. Thanks again for the feedback!

Good! Then when you have more questions (and you will), just start a new thread with a specific title such as "how do I move the lights?" or "how do I get a shadow on a background?" and the right experts will hop in with answers. After you get the answers, don't delete your questions, because that helps others who are too shy to post. Carolly

If you haven't already got them nip over to Daz and DL Vickie 3 and Mike3, base figures are free. But prepare yourself for big spending anyway, Poser is very ADDICTIVE!!

I actually purchased the complete David package the other day. But I can't fugure out how to tap into some of the other clothing. Like, I can access the 'David Morphing Clothes' section easily. But when I go to Pose > !MAT David Clothing I can't get any of those articles of clothing to go onto David. Same goes for morphing his face and body and such. How do you do that?

KDoug posted Fri, 13 May 2005 at 9:38 PM

The !MAT things, usually called MATposes, aren't meant to be used to apply clothing. It's to change the colors and textures of clothing you've already got in a scene. So, if you already have the clothing loaded and selected, you use the MATpose to change the color scheme of the clothing to match whatever it's showing in the thumbnail. With the morphs, if I understand what you mean, all you're doing is loading morph dials, not actually applying morphs. You will have to click on the appropriate body parts to find the appropriate dials. Or, if you want to use a full-body morph, choose the body from the menu at the bottom of your scene window. This is a scheme that DAZ came up with to allow people access to lots of morphs without having to bog down their system. The more morphs you have loaded, the more RAM you use up and the bigger your PZ3 and CR2 files get. So, you can add and remove morph dials as needed.
