Hi Gang, I wish some of you super talented posers, would be so gracious as to post a tutorial on how to make a texture map for a character. There are somethings that we all understand about the process, but there are more that we don't . What we need is not how to add a tatoo or stockings or such but how to do a face and such. Thanks to whom ever accepts this mission. All knowledge of your failures or short comings while in the process of trying to help your fellow posers will be disallowed. (smile)

If you have a scanner and know how to use Photoshop layers you're half way there. Look for straight on shots of faces in fashion mags, scan them and cut out the faces in Photoshop. Place the layer on the template, blend the edges and paint matching skin tone.

As a matter of fact, I'm in the process of writing one now. It's not on how to create a texture from scratch, but rather how to take an existing one, such as Zygote's Vicky texture, and modify it to get the skin tone shade you want. The process that I use requires Photoshop (although it may be adaptable to other software) and helps to keep the subtle skin shadings of the original texture. It can be used to acheive natural skin tones, but, I also tell how to get far-out colors as well, just in case you want something like a turquoise fairy. Of course, the process can also be used on just about any existing texture, not just those from Zygote. Also, it's not limited to face/body textures. You can also use it on textures for other figure models such as animals, props, etc. I hope to finish the tutorial in another day or two. In the mean time, did you check out the existing tutorials on Renderosity's web site? Do a search on "texture" and you'll find a number of them.
