Sorry for taking up space with these birds...the original thread(with three new shots) is several messages down. I just HAD to post these. : ) I got too close to the nest and felt a swish of air above my head..right in my face was this bird. I got divebombed twice! My soft heart jumped in and I backed way off, while this one flew on to the light pole and squawked at me. Then gave me the "eye". Realizing how vunerable animals are to nutzo humans, I was amazed at the tenacious attitude..keeping the babies safe. I will give these birds more room to do their stuff then try to get shots of the chick when they fledge.

Pascale, you would be surprised to see how small the bird looks in the original image! Please take donations to get me a longer lens! Maybe we can give TomDart a lens one month, give Pascale camera stuff next month..give Sheila something the next month....LOL! ; ) Glad you liked it. The bird did the work. Tom.

That first photo is awesome. Looks like this bird is in attack mode...

Love the first photo! Mockingbirds are very protective and can be down right mean. I have seen them attack small animals (dogs, cats, squirrels etc) defending their nest.

Great shots, I have never seen much of these birds, would be great as you say if you could get the babies when they first leave the nest.
