And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies
live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to
sea in a Sieve.

Great sense of motion and I think it would great hanging on a wall. For an online image at the size you have here, they are not really different enough to warrant 3 of them. I think 1 larger one would be great in your gallery. But as I said, printed out and hung up, 3 three of them would work really well. Just my 2.

luv the soft, impressionistic look & presentation a lot! would look good big to see the detail as kort pointed out, but i dislike the orange background... just my honest opinion :]
Onslow posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 11:25 AM
yep one of the reasons I have not put in the gallery - just not compatible with showing here, I don't want to make it large enough to see because then people would have to scroll which rather defeats a lot of the purpose.
we crossed there cyn. - yeah looking at it the tangerine background is a bit...............lol you know I have no artistic flair so suggest a colours if anyone wants to. Message edited on: 05/19/2005 11:28

or suggest other ways of doing it........ I like three pics because it shows the movement - they are all swaying different ways. One pic although it looks ok doesn't do that.

i like this, Richard. it's dreamy and very beautiful. certainly does convey a sense of motion but at the same time, i kind wish it had a bit more detail. maybe if i saw all of it together as a whole i would feel differently. do you mind to post another piece? i'm particularly interested in seeing the left portion of the foreground in the middle piece. thanks, Richard!

looks like i crossed with you & Cindy. you DO have artistic flare, Richard!!!!! :) for a background color, i'd choose a dark lavendar color.

Thx Shiela - yeah it increases the colours a bit too :) These are not manipulated before hand so lots of possibilities with a bit of postwork. You had me really curious then as to why you wanted that bit in particular :D

oh wow...i thought you used a motion blur on it. my mistake! yep...lots of possibilities for sure! that's part i asked you to show...it's the part where my eyes went to first. the way i read this one...well, i started at that point and then went up in a counter-clockwise direction.

Those are amazing! Personally, I like a lot of color and would probably do the contrast that Shiela did. Just me though. If you are going for a soft look, then that's different. As for the background, I usually sample a color from the image. Here I would sample a dark purple from it or a light purple (lavender). Try both and see which compliments the images best. I would love to have those hanging on my wall! I really like purple.....my whole bedroom is purple; walls, carpet, curtains, bedspread. heh heh. Got off topic.....anyway, I would love to see the different variations you come up with if you play with it more. :)

I really like this Rich!!! As Sheila said, I would increase the saturation a 'lil but other than that, I just love the compo the way it is! This is creative and beautiful! Yep!!
tibet2004uk posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 1:09 PM
Oh yea, the background, well, I don't have any suggestion about that so...that orange doesn't really bother me I must say! I makes the green stands out!

Very beautiful Rich..... I like it as a tryp...... must've been quite a wind.... How long of a shutter speed did you use....?
I am, therefore I create.......

Thx Michelle I have been trying quite a few of these shots recently. Means waiting for the right wind and poor light. Then polarizer and ND filters to get 1 sec.

gee... i hope i wasn't too blunt... sometimes i can do that... sorry Richard :] prefer it as a tryp too
Onslow posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 3:32 PM
No no no cyn not blunt at all. I didn't really give much thought to the background, I was pleased with the images, then it occured to me I would have too put them on a background to put them on here otherwise they would not be how I wanted them to be arranged. Just sorta picked a colour for no reason particularly - I am not going to be painting my walls orange to display these ;) I had in mind printing them up really large to use as a screen or canvas prints with no outer frame just stretched onto the inner frame and hung up on the wall.
