Um... got another dragon problem.

Here's the pic:^^^^^

As you can see the body fins are still green, how can I get them to look like everything else? I've tried various mats but they just stay green.

Help?

Fran P.S. "Visible" "Selectable" and "Cast Shadows" are all on for these fins, dunno if that helps?

I just tried the FireDragon mats for the body fins - and that works, but not the Millenium Dragon mats for the body fins - why not?

Ok, the main thing to remember when using the MAT files with multi-part figures is, in order to apply the MAT to the individual parts, the individual parts must be selected in the "Scene" tab, then you can apply the MAT. It's a bit of a pain sometimes, but it's the only way to do it for now.

If you go to the surface window and click on the arrow you will have access to the different mat structure.

Thanks, MorriganShadow. It works fine now. jroulin, Huh? Sorry, but I don't understand what you are talking about. What's a "surface window"? And what's "the different mat structure."??? Come to that, why do I need it?

Sorry I was not clear about this. The surface window is the one where you can select easily the different materials of a figure. There are different settings in DazStudio the firs (1) one is used the most but by clicking in the arrow I have pointed out in my previous post you can get to the window where you can easily select quickly any material part. OoOooOOO! Does that mean I could actually change the colour of a dragon???

Sorry for the late answer but I was out for some time. Yes not only the colour but also lots of other parametr. Playing around will be the best way to learn how the different parameter works. I would suggest you to start with the transparency.

Sorry it is not called transparency but opacity. Regards

Ah right. Um... I was just trying that out, and I was wondering - why is my "surfaces" in a different place to yours? Cos it's distracting having it obscuring my view. I'd prefer it where you have yours, also my "Scene" window turns up and obscures the "surfaces" window - don't like it. My "Scene" window used to be where yours is, but suddenly it changed - can I change it back? And what about the "surfaces" window?

If you grab the bars at the top of the palettes you can dock them to the edge of the screen - I have my Surfaces palette along the top, then I collapse it when not in use by clicking on the double-arrow button in the border with the viewport. You can also drag the tab with the name into another palette and they will share the space - click the tab you want to bring it forward.

Yes simly drag and drop it where you want to have it it is as simple as that and easely adaptable to the user. I have mine at the right but if you prefere you can have it at the left.

Okay, thanks. That's now sorted, but while we're talking about windows... I also found this:^^^ Mine appears to be empty so I just wondered, what's it for? Fran

Very nice questions but no real answer actually. I know that Daz/Studio is free and will still be free after the Beta release. Daz was claming that they will keep this but will sell some plug-in. The empty tools window could be for this. For exaples it could be the locations for improved hares and clothes like the dynamic hares and clothes in Poser but this is only pure speculations from my side. Maybe Morgan can give you a more detailed answer. Jacques
