Just to let everyone know- I am in the process of cleaning up the Warhammer models made by Ghost. His versions are P3 (and even with "presetMaterial" code) and most of his zip files don't have correct pathing information. The first few models are up on Vanishing Point and the others will be coming along later tonight, tomorrow, and through the rest of the week. :) None of the models have textures. If someone wants to make texture maps (or P5/ P6 procedural textures), let me know and I'll add it to these zip files. --John

Awesome, can't wait for Obiwan's speeder...
rsg posted Sun, 22 May 2005 at 8:03 PM
Obiwan should be putting the speeder on Kirisute's site within a week or two, not sure how long it'll take before it shows up there. Plus, he's been working on a brand new Rhino model, so we'll probably see that soon too.

Here's the 'Captain' character (rendered in Poser 4 with a "global" light set).

And I forgot to mention- all of these marine characters are fully posable! The arms, legs, fingers, head, etc. can move! These are very cool models! :-) --John

Seems as if the site is down right now. Can't seem to download anything...
Helgard posted Sun, 22 May 2005 at 9:40 PM
I was there now, and it worked fine for me. John, I have a few more of the original models. A rhino and another vehicle, I think a Pod or something like that, and I have a few add-on products, weapons and stuff. I will look when I get home and send you what I have.

I'm not sure what happened, but it seems to be working fine. Maybe you hit a glitch.

Is Marine 6 a conforming figure or is the head a part of the model?
Khai posted Sun, 22 May 2005 at 10:09 PM
cool :) when will the Obiwan Marines be up ? :):) (I lost my copies)
JHoagland posted Sun, 22 May 2005 at 10:36 PM
Is Marine 6 a conforming figure or is the head a part of the model? Marine 6 is its own figure, but it uses the P4Male obj file. --John

Khai, the marines themselves are available at Kirisute's site.Richard T posted Sun, 22 May 2005 at 11:24 PM
Thanks for these, they will come in handy. I like creating texturs so I will see what I can come up with, however no promises. Give me a 3-4 days or so for the first one, that's always the hardest. tied up on another project at the moment but that should be uploaded within 12 hours or so.

Just a quick point - what's listed as a Demolisher is, in fact, a Vindicator.
xantor posted Mon, 23 May 2005 at 6:54 AM
If you do a google images search of demolisher, a lot of the pictures you find will look exactly like ghost`s demolisher.

The one at the link is a bit different, it has a shovel at the front. I have seen them in the white dwarf magazine referred to as demolishers.

the 'shovel' is simply an optional attached bulldozer blade. It's really not going to change the shape of the hull, or position of the main gun now, is it?Incidentally, I did a google image search of a demolisher and it came up with exactly what I knew it would: an Imperial Guard tank with the main gun in a turret. Completely different to the space marine vindicator tank.
Additonally, if you go the attached link you will see images of marine tanks at epic scale, one of which is the same as the 3d model at VP and is labelled as...a vindicator

Here is a quick rundown of the files of Ghost's Warhammer models that I sent John. Space Marine Vechicles: = 6.6megs (Bike, Demolisher, Lspeeder, Pod, Pred, Rhino, Thunderhawk) Space Marine addon packs (Weapons/Backpacks etc) = 10 files/5.48 megs Space Marine pose packs = 6 files/383k Space Marine Characters = 15 files/15.6 megs Chaos Marines = 7 files/5.84 megs 2 misc files - Resources and textures Eldar - 1 file/928k Enjoy everyone :-) and thanks to John for cleaning them up for regular everyday joe use :-)
JHoagland posted Mon, 23 May 2005 at 9:46 AM
And thanks to efudd for sending the files. :) I figured it was better to split up the 15.6M "space marine" pack into the individual characters. This way, people can choose which ones they want... and don't have to wait for a 15M file to be downloaded. The "Demolisher" model (at VP) uses the name "Demolisher" for both the cr2 and obj file. So, don't blame me for an incorrent name. :) Seriously, though, if everyone thinks this model should be the "Vindicator" instead, let me know and I'll change the name. --John

I would just leave the name, the name doesn`t really matter anyway, as long as people know what it is.

onimusha posted Mon, 23 May 2005 at 3:08 PM
The correct name would be Vindicator. The Demolisher is used by the Imperial Guard...

Cool image! I think shaders may be the only way to get textures onto these models. The marine figures do use an external "marine.obj" file, but some props are built into the cr2 file. This means that you can't create a UV template (or texture) for those props. Some of the weapons props aren't mapped and some have very strange mapping- both of which will make it very difficult to make maps, including: texture maps, transparency maps, and bump maps. --John

Any way you can talk Jon Malis into re-releasing his entire FRPG line...with possible updates for M3/V3? That'd be a great addition to an already incredible site.
