Experimenting. Almost there. Drac says we need more realistic textures available. ;) AS

Cool.....those little pebbles really add to it. semi-OT, did you get my IM about the tree bark texture?

I eat babies.

lordstormdragon posted Tue, 24 May 2005 at 6:53 AM

Drac needs more realistic textures?!? Make 'em yourself, ya lazy bum! Here's my best bacon texture. Gonna make a seamless tile, next time.

lordstormdragon posted Tue, 24 May 2005 at 6:58 AM

On a more productive note, here's a tile I made some time ago. Have at it, "tiles" beautifully!

That texture rocks Mr. Smith.... 8)

hum a seamless tile for an infinite bacon plan!.. but could you please remove all the specular reflection from the bacon, because it may interfere with the final render.. And dont forget to make a bump map too! AS did you paint this texture or is it made with DTE? and is the render time increased with that kind of texture? and last question , the bump comes from the terrain itself or from the texture bump map? cheers

But Mine is paint with Photoshop texture + Bump map The same texture applied to a terrain and a cube (with less bump on the cube) so?

AgentSmith posted Tue, 24 May 2005 at 2:37 PM

More realistic DTE textures to be exact. I'm going to round up what DTE textures I have made in the past, polish'em up, and set them free in the www. ------------------- "AS did you paint this texture or is it made with DTE"? -Yeah, that's all just DTE, no image textures. "is the render time increased with that kind of texture?" -Sometimes, yes. Especially when more than one channel is being used. Complexity of texture = more number crunching for the renderer. "does the bump comes from the terrain itself or from the texture bump map" -Little bit of both, but mostly from the DTE texture. ------------------- To expand on what drac had basically mentioned - If we want realism in our Bryce textures, yes image textures are a quick way to get there, I use them quite a bit myself. But, the one place we can't use image textures (as easily) is in Terrains. Which is also the hardest DTE texture to make. Okay, maybe not hard, but more difficult to make really realistic. (lots of balls to juggle in those channels) I'm actually about half knowledgable, half lucky in making terrain textures, but I'll keep putting an effort into it, and help start building a library in which we can all work off of. I've not played about with the DTE yet in Br5.5, so maybe it is time I had a go at it. 8)

Kemal, I seriously hope that is not a photo of real meat.

AgentSmith posted Tue, 24 May 2005 at 5:53 PM

Lol...yeah, that's not the kind of meat I'm used to seeing... But, reminds me...I used to work in a warehouse, and one of the trucks that stopped to pick up, also made deliveries of bologna to a near-by prison. This particular meat was purchased by the prison because it was cheaper than even normal bologna. Why? Because there was nothing done to the meat to alter its color or odor. It was green, and smelled like old wet shoes. (I kid you not) AS

Hm. Would anyone be interested in a DTE texture that has a bit of "moss" in it? All of my homemade procedurals were made in Bryce 3D, archived somewhere on my old computer, but I don't know if it's worth getting and installing on my Bryce 5. If anyone else wants them, I might actually consider getting them from the old computer. Linked image shows one of my older pieces (June 2001), where all of the textures are DTE-made by me.

Absolutely. If you want we can host them. AS
