I like the metal texture. It's not the usual shiny chrome and that's refreshing. For your background, how about a bunch of (cyber) grass, with circuit board textures on the blades? Good work for a first shot!

Really nice. Lensman and I have to stop reading the same stuff! I was going to suggest something like that, myself, but since he beat me to the punch, how about a circuit board with the (now less frequently seen) capacitors and resistors standing in for the grass. I could see this mantis of yours as being pretty small and a circuit board could be a veritable jungle for it. Did you build the little guy with IK? I could imagine some outstanding animation opportunities with him....

This site is grate, it gives all of us the opportunity to show out work and get excellent ideas. I like both suggestions about the background, and no I didn't use I.K. since I haven't gotten to that chapter on the book yet, but the model should be easily adaptable for I.K. and animating it would be the ultimate for me. Thanks for your great input.

Well I have a bit of a morbid streak but how about a partially devoured male Cyber Mantis in the background. Stacey
