It could be a start of the spine for a robot. :-) Great doodle. Nice texture, as Fran says, but a couple of distinct highlights would do wonders, I think. The sepia somehow doesn't fit.

Actually there is no sepia done in post...that's the texture. I tried quite a few others, mostly metal or stone looking. I'll try a few more and maybe add to the comp also.

You could use it in a sci-fi or ancient setting as a sort of Archemedes Screw type thingie. Just popped into my head...

Rochr Created the Cable, it's quite simple, made of cylinders. Here's a render of one of the shapes, In the B5 file I negative booleaned the right side of it off. Why/how did you want a grayscale? Would you rather have a 3DS model of the shape or the Bryce File?
