Is there a good, relatively easy to use program to create and manipulate morphs for Poser objects? I have Morph Master and Anim8or, but these programs have their limitations. I'm ready to go to something better (don't mind buying it), but don't want something with a month long learning curve. What are your favorites? thanks. K.M.B.

You want a modeler. Wings (www.wings3d.com) is an excellent free modeler with considerably more features than Anim8or. Silo and Hexagon are both nice pay-for modelers that should do the job and cost a lot less than the 'major' apps, although Silo might still have issues with obj export. Not sure. Silo and Hexagon both have free 30 day trial versions if you want to take a look. I've only dabbled with Shade, a sister product to Poser. It might be a good candidate. Wings is still my favorite modeler as far as working fast goes. There are a bunch of other free or inexpensive modelers out there. After a couple years messing around with demos and shopping them I realized that I need to just stick with one and improve my modeling skills. In other words, a good artist with a low end modeler will make much higher quality stuff than I could even with the best modeler. Sometimes we hobbyists get too wrapped up in the 'I want a modeler that does all the whiz-bang stuff' thing and then realize later that it hasn't improved our modeling a lick...on the other hand, it's fun to get a new modeler. lol.

feh..I had a site somewhere that was a linklist to 'over 1,294 sites' of modelers, cad programs, etc..just don't remember what it was called. Try Sourceforge, Nonags, shareware.com, etc., there's loads of stuff..I have Turbocad from one of the 'Brit' mags, older version, but I still don't know a spline from a nurb..;) oh..and Wings 3d is pretty good..Dr. Geep has a tutorial in the Wings site on how to do morphs, so that should get you started..
Wings Local 509..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

"Is there a good, relatively easy to use program to create and manipulate morphs for Poser objects?" Poser's magnets have the advantage of being available within the program, so you can see the results immediately; and they're the easiest way to morph more than one body part. Everybody who doesn't know magnets says "oh, they're too difficult"; and everybody who does know magnets says "they're great once you learn them". I used to be in the first category, now I'm in the second. Never looked back. The moment when the light bulb went on over my head is hopefully encapsulated in the linked tutorial. :)
