Excellent timing, dof, exposure... I have never even gotten close enough to these shy birds to get a good shot. This one is amazing:}

I know it's a landing, but it almost looks as if he/she gets blasted back by a gush of wind :P Cool shot.

Wonderful capture! I am jealous. There is a lake near me with a blue heron in it that is just out of camera range.

"Got lucky I guess" is an understatement! Well, lucky to be there at the right time...the rest is your photogaphy quick to the draw and that is you, not luck. I would love to get so lucky. Really neat image. Thumbs up for this one! I have seen lots of herons but not once in this pose.. Great shot..bty, are you the "bird whisperer" ? Do you talk to them or what! Thanks, Tom.

Nice one :)

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

You certainly don't see them like this too often. Great landing shot--you were in the right place at the right time, that's for sure.
