Hi, all -- I'm working on a project that I need an alley scene for, and DAZ has a very cool one for sale for use in their program. I know you can use their props and scenes and such easily in Poser, but I'm really hoping to move it into Carrara to do the lighting, setup and renders. Does anyone know if I'll be able to do that easily? Will I need to open it in Poser then use transposer to move it into Carrara? (I have bought but not yet installed C4, and I think transposer comes with C4, right?) Anyway, any advice would be welcome before I plunk down my hard earned cash on the thing from DAZ.... Thanks! Hey Dex, all the models I've bought (about 8) made BY Daz have imported seamlessly into CS Pro.
I did purchase a skin texture set through Daz that, although it came through all right, always looked weird, too shiney. The skin texture looked okay in Poser though.
So there's my 2 cents.
Daz products made by Daz: no problem
Daz products made by third party producers: problems with 1
Also: I've never bought scenes from them, only character models
One other thing: The times I've had to talk with someone directly at Daz about any problems have been very productive. They seemed to be pretty cool.

Dex has suggested that Transposer comes with C4, and while nobody has come right out and said 'no, it doesn't', nobody has said 'yes' either. Am I right then, in assuming that it does come with C4? [I'm running C4.3, Standard]. And how do I access it once I have a Poser figure ready to bring over? It would be a great money-saving boon to find that I already have it.

Transoposer comes bundled with C4 Pro. I'm not sure if it comes with C4 Standard.

Actually, I just looked at the Eovia site and it's pretty clear that transposer doesn't come with C4 Standard. I use Adobe AfterEffects all the time, and there's a pro and standard version of that, as well. I have the pro version at home and the standard version at work (seems like that's backwards, doesn't it?), and I'm constantly surprised by things that I just assume come in the program only to find out that they're "pro only" features. With C4 Standard (like with AfterEffects Standard) you get an awesome piece of software with which you can do lots of great things. The pro version helps streamline the workflow and offers some features that the manufacturers deemed to be something folks would be willing to pay extra for -- like the motion blur and Transposer in Carrara. If you find that you're wanting lots of the features in the Pro version, you might consider an upgrade.... - Dex
