Hi, I just got an Ad for a full featured evaluation version of Modo. Heard once it was supposed to be a radical modeling tool...but it ran into bugs and other serious issues. Well, looks like its out and they are giving away a free, full-featured tryout. Cool. Link: http://www.luxology.com/modo/ If someone knows more about it, please let me know. If someone has used it, is it just another modeling tool, or is it any better? Thanks!

I have no personal experience, but indie animator Terrence Walker swears by it.

You can also check full featured version of Silo at www.nevercenter.com. Not so many options like modo but price is also several times lower. Or check free wings3d. I like last two modellers as they have more user friendly learning curve. A lot of options like in modo are nice but how many will you use in reality?

Allen Hastings is one of the original creators of Lightwave made by Newtek. Recently (2 years now?) Allen and Stuart Ferguson plus a bunch of the crew from Newtek left to form Luxology and their product is Modo a 3d modeling application. think of Modo as Lightwave modeler on steroids with all the cool features that were not put into Lightwave 8 because these guys left Newtek. People that love Lightwave modeler love Modo, those that don't care for lightwave seem to have a similar distaste for Modo.
