Ok, I just purchased a product here. I should have read before buying. I wished people would resort from using Winzip of any version. It confuses people who do not have it, and do have it. I can not stand it. It is not free, and a pain in the but. WindowsXP comes with its own zip, compression. And that is the one I use 100% of the time. Why should I have many compression programs, then after 30 days get messages "Your trial is up!" when I can use windows with no problems. Although people state, their is file size difference. I couldn't care, as long as I get the file. No cost of using Windows version.

Well, you'll have to blame Microsoft for not making a compressed file handler incompatible with some zip files.

Agree nruddock. I had to download WinZip 9.0 in able to uncompress a zip file from here. I will look into those. Do they unzip all compressed files?

Check the documentation for them and see if one or both support the formats you require.

7-Zip is an Open Source program, so if there's a fomrat that it doesn't support, try requesting it or if that fails you can add it yourself.

There are other programs of this type, these are just the ones that I remembered first and Google'd for.

I shouldn't have to download other programs or look into em, when Windows has one already.

You can also use "Unziplify", which is a great little unzipper and can unzip batches of .zip files.
