Hi all, I was wondering if you have the ability to use wind with the new ecosystems. I am intersted in the product but from what I have been reading it seems the ecosystems are maps with an alpha channel, looks like that from pictures. I am not sure though, maybe somone can clarify that for me. Thanks all, cheers. Cob

Yes,wind is able to be used with ecosystems and ecosystems are not maps. Ecosystems are 3d objects with unique controls for manipulation. I think they are instances.

Ecosystems are instances alright, but I don't think you can use wind on them, since they are considered a material of the underlying terrain/object. Would be great though if you could use wind on thousand of instanced trees.

Wind does work on eco instances, needs enabling in the atmosphere editor, however the direction cannot be modified.

Oops! I have to correct myself, it is breeze not wind that works with eco's. Sorry about that.

Also, Steve Bell noted in the e-on forum that you can use wind by appying to a plant, saving as VOB then populating with the new object. I haven't actually tried this. Unless you're looking for a very powerful storm, I find the effects of breeze more realistic than wind anyway.
