Just yesterday I exported every part of a figure, one at a time, so I could loadit up as morph targets on another Unimesh figure. It worked perfectly for me, and that was a lot of parts! After rebooting, are the menus still disabled? Have you tried with a different figure also yet? JDexter

No, just disabled until I close and re-open Poser. Are you using P6 SR1 ?
Jcleaver posted Sun, 05 June 2005 at 8:20 AM
I have SR1, and don't exactly have that problem. It seems to be a little weird in the heirarchy editor however. I can hide all, and then when i click to show all, nothing shows up until i hide it and then click show again.

One thing i have noticed post-SR1, when my comp goes into sleep mode, then I bring it back up, the library I was in pre-sleep has nothing in it. I have to use the "up" button, and go back to the same library to see the thumbs again. Strange behavior, but I expected SR1 to fix somethings and "break" others. It's inconvenient, but SR1 is still worlds better than pre-SR1.

I've been doing heaps of exporting lately with P6 SR1, and no problems found.

Hmmmm not much good for me (: Does your export menu go nuts, as per the image above ??

Something I've noticed since P6 sr1, is that it seems to take a VERY long time to switch back to preview mode from render mode. Render an image, and then select preview.... go get a cup of coffee, go take a pee, maybe water your plants, and by then it'll be back to preview mode! The problem is, I can't drink that much coffee, but if I do, at least I can keep up with the peeing! (Um, can I say Pee?) ;)

Ditto Gareee. I do a lot of imp/exp of OBJ, and had no problem before or after SR1, but I have noticed that Poser 6 has to be dragged kicking and screaming back to Preview, and SR1 increased the kicking.

It seems to be memory related, I think. If I run more stuff in the background, it's worst. if I run less, it's not as bad. But it is VERY noticable! Load a figure with a lot of hi res texture/bump maps, and watch it slow down to a crawl...

I've also noticed and reported spotlights "dying". I'm not sure what's going on, but if you get a light that "broke" you can delete it, and replace it with an identical light that now works. PITA when you are setting up lighting a scene!

I have this exact problem. Installed SR1 for P6 and now I can't export any OBJ's anymore. You can go through the whole process of selecting what you want to export but no file is actually generated and you are left with a greyed out 'Files' menu so you have to reboot P6 before you can do anything.
face_off posted Sun, 05 June 2005 at 4:07 PM
I haven't read about the dying spotlights, but have had light problems with both P5 and P6 - and it's related to modifying light parameters (shadows, postion, color, etc) on a frame OTHER than 1. No amount of deleting keyframes seems to fix it - you need to delete the light and re-create it (on frame 1).

I now I exported obj files today, and imported them without issue. There might be something else you did that triggers another bug. Try loading a different character or prop, and then just export part of it, to see if that works.

Thanks, Hawke. At least there is someone else on the planet that is getting the same problem as me. It's annoying. Gareee....the problem occurred with Neftoon Pal, so I loaded up good ol' standard David but still had the same problem with the runaway Export sub-menu (as per the pic). This time I selected the "Wavefront OBJ" entry at the bottom of the menu, and it worked. So I re-loaded the Pal, and did the same and got the same result. So the work-around is to select the entry at the bottom of the menu. NOW .... With all due respect to most other comments in this thread .... please quit hijacking this thread !! Could you please either stick to the topic, or open a separate thread ? I did not intend this thread to be about misbehaving spotlights or switching between preview/render modes etc.etc. Also, point-blank comments along the lines of "well it works for me" just aint helpful.
