Did you flatten the cube? Try using the one sided square instead, that sometimes helps with these artifacts. I am not 100% sure why it happens, I had it happen recently with the Daz freebie temple as well... You're using P6, right?

Yes, I am using P6 SR1, and I am already using the square (not the cube)

Attach the displacement node to the image texture then set the displacement value to 0.001 :-)

Not any more :D In P6 SR1, just go to the material room and check "Normals Forward" for the material that shows the pattern.

Used to have the problem. Dunno if this will help. :-)Fazzel posted Tue, 07 June 2005 at 2:03 PM
Mathman, make sure you are using the one sided square. This looks like you are using the two sided sqaure.

The only squares that are in the P6 primitives are the one-sided square or the hi-res square (otherwise known as the Cloth Plane). I used the one-sided square. I have, however, just repeated the exercise, and had no problem this time. Go figure. Thanks all who responded. regards, Andrew

Hmm. Looks like a pretty nice "sci-fi" background to me (now, which button should I push? This one? Or that one? No - wait - that button looks good...) Pity you couldn't reproduce the effect, it could have come in useful:-)) OTOH, I'm glad for you that the problem went away; unwanted side-effects are always a PITA.. Cheers, Diolma

A footnote : it has occurred to me that when I got the problematic pattern on the prop, I had bumped up the atmospheric strength on the spotlight, and also set the atmosphere dial to about 0.01 to create a volumetric fog effect. I wonder if that had anything to do with it ? (I should have mentioned this at the beginning)

Hmmm interesting .... maybe I was mistaken, and used the square, as you got exactly the same sort of pattern.

Still.. I got the same effect on a Daz prop.. you can see it clearly in the pic HERE - in the background. So how do you fix THAT? I can't just swap the temple for a ine sided square L Or would it help with the thing Stewer mentioned? the Normals forward? Unfortunately I didn't save the PZ3 so I can't try it :) Is it an error in Poser or an error on certain props? As it doesn't do like this on ALL props... And if it's an error in the prop, what can be done to eliminate it? (I wouldn't like to make a prop that had this error)
