I am working in Poser 6 on a Mac. I want to apply a different texture to the horse. I downloaded some great horse textures but can't figure out how to get rid of the existing one on the horse and or locate and apply one of the new ones. Got to be easy, yes?
Thank you.

If the new textures are in MAT poses you just click and there is the new texture. Make sure you have the horse selected first though. Otherwise its the Materials Room for you. I suggest using the simple version to change the maps.

What is a MAT pose? The textures are in the texture folder. What is the simple version? Sorry, I'm new at this.

Got response ready but IE ate it :(. Anyway, I'm a P4 user and unfamiliar with P6 interface, but I'll try to explain what you should try to search for. Pic shows how it looks like in P4. Your Material Room will look totally different but some functions remained the same. Go to Material Room. Try to find where it says how the current horse texture is named (Poser horse will load up with default texture named "Horse Texture.tif"). Try to locate button which will load up a new texture, should be near it. Remember to find & check option saying "texture change apply to whole figure" or something similar - in other case you'll end up with new texture on one body part and old on others. Then locate your texture on a harddrive. Voila. I'm totally unfamiliar with all those nodes and settings, but this should give you a basic idea on what to do to change the texture. Maybe try to search the forum for Dr Geep's tuts ? I think he made one on P6 basics. Also, see the link above to check what are MAT poses and few other useful terms. Good luck !Message edited on: 06/09/2005 07:51

If you click the SIMPLE TAB it will sort of look like the pic that vilian posted. You wil be able to see the texture. You should also check the manual. It's not the best, but it does help.

Thank you, In P6/Materials/Simple, I discovered that by double clicking on the image of the existing texture, a new window pops up that allows me to browse and replace it. It ain't as obvious as on P4, but it works.
