I've asked about this a few times before, and I'm still looking for help. There was a script given to me in the Python forum and Wish list forum to uncompress single files. Only I don't know how to access the script because it doesn't show up in the Python Script window found in the windows area of Poser 5. I was also told here, in this forum, that you can unzip .crz files using winzip. I had winzip 8.1 and did not have an option to use winzip for the .crz files. I've just downloaded and installed winzip 9.0 SR1. When I right click the .crz file I select "open with winzip". The .crz file appears in the winzip window. I select "extract to" and the folder, and all it does is spit out the same .crz file. It doesn't uncompress it. So again, someone please tell me how to use winzip to uncompress a single compressed .crz file :)

Rename the file extension to .gz and then use WinZip. So, for example, Jessie's cr2 which is Jessie.crz would be Jessie.gz. You'll then get the .cr2 (hopefully!) Oh, and it's always a good idea to back up the original and do this on a copy.

To access the script within Poser go to Window - Python. Then the Python palette opens. Click on an empty button, that opens Windows Explorer. Browse to the Python/poserscripts folder and select the script. Click OK and the script appears in the Python Palette. Click on the button and run the script.

Note: next time you open Poser and you want to run the script you would have to go to the above mentioned steps again or - to have it constantly available in the Python palette - you would have to do edit the mainbutton.py.

I had it happen with a Python script I right-clicked to save that Iex added an additional .txt to the .py ending, so that might be a reason, too, why it wouldn't show up in your python lib.

Look on the File menu, select "Run Python Script", select the script you want to run.

In the case of the scripts I did, a Poser file chooser will appear, then choose the file you want to decompress / compress.

The problem with WinZip is that the extension not being stored in the compressed file is what I think is causing trouble.

If you will be using the script(s) a lot, then you should assign them to buttons on the Script palette.

You don't have to rename the .crz file, just drag-and-drop the file into Winzip. Winzip will assume it's really a zip file and unzip it. Then you can extract the .cr2 to wherever.

I uploaded a Python script to the Python Forum, back in March. The script allows one to browse for a single file to compress or decompress. It adapts the compression scripts included with Poser 5, as previously altered by Tromnek. There is one bug: it requires that you specify whether or not to delete original files before it will run the compression routines. It's a hack, but I've found it to work. I'm re-attaching the file, here. There are a few extra file types addended to the suffix table. I use this to compress Paint Shop Pro and Game Maker files, as well as Poser files.... On edit: this will run as a stand-alone, if you have Python installed on your system. That's one of the things for which Tromnek deserves credit.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
