A month ago my father (73) became suddenly ill. Diagnosis cancer, first his longs, then his head, bones and finally his liver and kidnies. This all in a period of 5 weeks. This morning (a month after becoming ill) my father past away in my arms. He was in the hospital, the last two days in a kind of twilightzone. This morning I got a call he was worse and I raced to the hospital. The moment I came in I took him into my arms, wispered in his ear that I loved him and that it was enough. I told him he was not alone, that I was with him and that it was alright to let go. With his head to mine he died the moment after I had kissed him and had spoken to him. It had been my worst fear that he would die alone, and I promissed him that I would not let him down. I can only be gratefull that I could be with him at his last moment. It is okay now. Thanks for all the heartwarming words and signs of caring. I will be back soon, it will be good for me to start finishing my projects, have something to focus on. Warm regards, Dalinise.

My heart goes out to you. You - and he - were indeed fortunate to be together at that time, as I was with my step-father, the only dad I have ever known, who died of multiple myeloma. Though loaded with morphine and in the resultant mental fog, HE actually comforted me. His last words: "That's Larry! I love Larry!" I hope you cherish the memory and all the other good ones as well. Godspeed. Larry F

My sincerest condolences. Losing a loved one is never easy, especially when it's one of your parents; there's nothing that can cut you back down to being a scared little child quicker than that. Take good care of yourself - you and yours are in my thoughts.

I'm sorry for your loss. Last month my father passed away too, but at least you were able to be there to share your father's last moments. I wasn't so fortunate. I was 3000 miles away at the time.

God looked around His garden
and He found an empty place
He then looked down upon this earth
and saw your tired face
He put His arms around you
and lifted you to rest
Gods garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He also knew in Heaven
you would never hurt again
He saw the road was getting rough
and the hill harder to climb
So, He closed your weary eyelids
and whispered "Peace Be Thine"
It broke my heart to lose you
but you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you
the day He called you home
If tears could build a staircase
and memories a lane
I'd walk all the way to heaven
and bring you home again
Thanks for all the reactions, they make all the difference, Dal.
