Newbie question: I'm trying to pick up a copy of Carrara, but can only find RD 5.5. Will I be missing any important features?

Not really, especially if you are new to type of software. The shaders are quite different but in may aspects RDS 5.5 has more features in it then Carrara. Your added benefit would be that you would be able to upgrade to Carrara at a special price when it is re-released so it is a win-win situation (if you can get RDS for a good price & it is legal). Most of the modelers & actions are very similar between the two so you would still be learning "Carrara" while learning RDS. I'd say go for it.

Thanks! Great advice. I've been doing some research and hoping RD will be a good modeller for Poser animations (with an eye to upgrade to the new Carrara when it comes out). Any other advice would be appreciated!

Upgrade to Carrara at a special price? Where's more info on that? Thanks! K

Fugue, Go to Eovias site and see what specials they have for the future. Link to Eovia is at the top of this screen. Clint

Uh, I looked there before I posted. I may be missing what's in plain sight (have done before), of course. I'll take another look. . . . At least now I know it's there somewhere! Thanks, Clint! K
