Wasn't it a mac update? And if it's not, I can't get it to install.
Erlik posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 11:29 AM
Shouldn't be a Mac only update, cause it lists a fix for a bug I reported. And it says PC | Mac download.

It says unknown format? Why not the usual exe file?
dan whiteside posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 11:50 AM
Might want to wait for the official annoucement...
Erlik posted Sun, 19 June 2005 at 12:05 PM
It's a normal EXE file for PC and it's fubared. Reports "no valid installation available". To me and three more people over at DAZ.

"no valid version" of bryce in my install attempt, though I do have Bryce 5.5, so that message is bogus. Fubared indeed, it seems.

marcfx posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 1:23 PM

waldomac posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 1:24 PM
I'm dead in the water. I can't launch Bryce at all. Uh-oh. Heeelllpp! :)
marcfx posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 1:29 PM
Waldomac. Are you trying a new install of Bryce or just trying to run the update?

Erlik posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 1:32 PM
I got it to work accidentally by first installing the latest version of Studio, 9.23.1, and Psot Render 9.23.x. I didn't have any problems ten minutes ago.

Maybe thats my problem, I already have DS 23.1 installed but when executing the update it finds the location but not the Bryce 5.5a file that it needs to use. I have re-installed 5.5a six times but still no luck. Its getting quite confusing

waldomac posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 2:35 PM
Marcfx Just the update. Is that not correct? I have Bryce 5.5a, as far as I know, now updated (via the update exe file) to 5.5b.
marcfx posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 2:38 PM
Yep, you got the same non working update.......welcome to the masses! LOL

OK. Installed DAZ Studio update, and we're up and running again. Weird and convoluted, but at least it works. Not PO'd, just on a deadline. If you're having problems like this, just install latest DAZ Studio update, and it should work for you. Except for Dracz, who has officially refused. You go, Drac. :)
jelisa posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 3:01 PM
For those still having problems, please make sure you clear your cache prior to downloading the updated file.
marcfx posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 3:39 PM
Urm, going to sound dumb now.......what cache and where?
Smile, your dead a long time :)
jelisa posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 3:42 PM
Okay, forget the cache thing and download the latest version of DS and install it. Since the 5.5b update fixes some DS Integration problems, it was built against the latest version of DS and requires it to work.
marcfx posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 4:07 PM
I have the latest DS but still have the problem but, I do have DS in another folder of my hard drive.......if you have anymore ideas please share :)

jelisa posted Tue, 21 June 2005 at 4:12 PM
At the moment, that's all I know - you need DS Version 0.9.23.1 installed before you install the 5.5b update. The folder DS is installed to shouldn't matter ... unless ... you reinstalled DS into a different directory than you did when installing it with 5.5?
FranOnTheEdge posted Wed, 22 June 2005 at 5:35 AM
I think I'll wait until it's simple to install an update, I can't be having with all this "you need to clear the cache, install another prog first, change directories... etc etc." What bug does this fix? Is it anything to do with the colour changes in Daz not appearing in Bryce? Or the beastly little double headed arrows getting in the way of changing the camera view? I think I'd rather put up with bugs than download a big fix that IS a bug and crashes Bryce altogether.
