The company I work for just got smacked with a Trojan virus. The file's name is: annakournikova.jpg.vbs If you get any email with this file, TRASH IT! The email's title is: "Here you have,;-)" Along with the file, it contains the text: "Hi. Check this:" Repeat, DELETE THE EMAIL, DO NOT OPEN THE FILE! I don't know if it's harmful, but it will email itself to everyone in your mailing list. -SMT BTW: no, I didn't get infected. I never open .vbs files!

Thx for the info - but (lol) - well if you open such a file you should really lose some information on your HD - 'cause you earn it :o) Everyone should know (esp. after this I-love-you - think) what a vb-script could do ...

The message body reads Hi: Check this! and it arrives with an attachment named AnnaKournikova.jpg.vbs. This one will be big, said Alex Shipp, an engineer at MessageLabs Inc. Within a couple of hours, Shipps company had detected nearly 4,500 copies of it, and detection rates are growing exponentially. Compared with the LoveBug, it took twice as many hours for LoveBug to reach that level.

I have vbs totally shut down on my puter just for this kind of thing. Ron

If you use win2k you should be aware that there are leaks that allow hackers to access your system through I.E. If you haven't updated your win2k you should, I got nailed and it wasn't a virus deleting my stuff, it was a human who got past my firewall, zonealarm pro. I now have the updates installed and a hard firewall....but it's a lot of work re-installing and losing projects. Teach me not to back up every day...lol lesson learned Marque

Yes Marque, A hardware firewall is a good investment. Nothing is impregnable, but hardware firewalls can totally shut-off ports, etc. that can fool even software firewalls. I have come to realize more and more that piloting an internet browser these days is the same as flying in deep space with the perils of black holes, Klingon warships, etc. You need shields to deflect enemy probes and attacks, and the enemy just keeps getting better... Who needs video games when crusing the internet is becoming the best thing since World War II. I just wish I had some 50 cal machineguns or laserguns to fire back...

Just hit us here at work this morning. A woman opened it and it spread through our whole system in about 30secs. I have my vbs disabled so It didn't affect me, that and the fact I won't open anything with a vbs extender. Been chasing it with Nortons to kill the critter.

I continue to be amazed at the impact these viri have and at the number of companies which either lack virus defense software or have installed a poor quality product. I am the IS Manager at my company and we have been getting attacks from this virus at least since Sunday Monday, BUT not one has penetrated the defense software installed here. As a matter of record NOT ONE SINGLE virus has penetrated the defense software since its installation about a year ago. For any interested party it the Mcafee TVD (Total Virus Defense) the suite for Internet-Email-Desktops All are covered. Great Product. But even at a cost of around 100.00 per unit it is less costly the loosing your data.

I receive two e-mail containing some links of a Kind of XXX stuffs. It could be another virus. We have t0 be carful.
