As promised, here is a selection of 3 themes for our first Workshop (it sounds better than 'mini challenge'.... shorter too). 1- Texture this scene Everybody will start with the same basic scene to texture. Some props will be allowed as long as they do not distract from the main scene. Use only props included in your version of Vue. 2- Special effect: Campfire Create a convincing scene of a camp fire at night. Again, props are allowed as long as the campfire remains in plain view. Use only props included in your version of Vue. 3- Landscaping: Rocky beach Create a scene with terrains, rocks and a body of water. The scene should represent a cliff, or any other kind of rocky beach (no sand allowed). Remember that the spirit of the workshops will be to learn, have fun, and make something to share in the process. For those willing to share, I will gladly package materials, atmospheres, scenes, etc... and make them available for dowload from the Backroom. Please cast your vote for these subjects (pick one). You have until tomorrow night, 8pm Renderosity time to select what will be our first workshop. If you want details about how the workshops will work, or if you have ideas for future workshops, follow this link. Thanks to everyone for providing such great ideas so far.niandji posted Mon, 20 June 2005 at 6:43 PM

#1. It sounds interesting.

I like all three but I think number one would be most useful since we're all starting with the same scene and could develop some awesome textures to share

Would really like to see #2, but I just spent fried my last two brain cells trying just this effect a few renders ago and couldn't bear having a go at it again this soon...LOL...so I will select #1. Should be very interesting, I think!?!

Well I've been playing around with 2 so I'd have a bit of a head start but at the moment I'd prefer #3

hmm hard choice, really like to get good at all of those... and I'm not so would suck doing them ~L~ Looks like you have the next three challenges lined up. So, let's start at the top and work down. ~S~ #1

By overwhelming demand, #1 it is ! I will prepare a blank scene tomorrow and post it in a new thread so that the workshop may begin (I can't right now as I am in the middle of a long render). You can IM me if you have ideas of a scene. I have a couple of ideas myself but I am always willing to hear new suggestions.
