Does anyone have suggestions as to the most efficient way of exporting poser models to be used in FormZ?? I've tried DXF and 3DS, but I can't get the different body parts to stay seperate. I've even had the groundplane become on with the model. I'm basically looking to import models into Formz, with body parts as seperate objects.

I do not know if your program can support it, but, Wavefront OBJ format is about the best way to export. Make sure that you check all the boxes except the create Morph Target box when you export and that will givce you all the different body parts. Try this with the 3DS format. Not sure if DXF will let you do that, though--haven't had a need to try. thenodemaster

Thx, nodemaster, I'll try the OBJ, but I'm not sure FormZ supports that format. Is there any other program which will open OBJ so I can possibly convert to 3DS?

Well, try using the export options in Poser and make sure that you have it set up to uses exact internal names for the meshes and DO NOT WELD THE VERTICIES! I forgot about that one. Make sure that box is not checked. That should do it for you. thenodemaster

thanks again, node - the obj format is helping alot. I can now get individual bodyparts, but there seems to be a problem at the seams. Is this due to the "weld vertices" you are talking about?? I can't seems to find the export options in poser, except for when I actually do the export I can choose which parts to include, but not much else. Am I missing something?? - thanks again for responding to my question :) PMJ

You may wish to try weelding the vertices. I am not sure how this would work in animation as I havce not done much of that--I am mainly stills. Yes, the only place you can select those options is when you actually export the object. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions, E-mail me at thenodemaster1@juno.com thenodemaster
