What version of Poser? 6? If so, check out the Face Room.

You could play around with magnets. It would be a lot of work and take a lot of time, but with a little practice you could get the face just the way you want it. Or just buy some pre-made morphs from the marketplace.

so is it easier to create a face with the later versions?

Have you looked at the available dials for the character you are using? Some have a wide range of facial dials to play with, others, a bit more restricted. One of the best out of the box females for facial experimenting is V3NG by HMann at Daz. For a male, the new Apollo Max from RDNA is pretty had to beat for faces.
I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

It is magnitudes easier in P5 or better yet P6. Those versions include a Face Room. You can use photos to create face inside Poser. Takes a bit of practice, but it IMO is quite worth it. You also get things like the Material, Hair, and Cloth Rooms. If you can, upgrade to P6. There are still some issues people are having with it, but it is by far the best version yet. If you stick with P4, you would be best off buying a character or two. Otherwise, you will need to use something like UVMapper (available on the side menu at Roy's Poser MAX Tutorials.) This is a bit complicated, and was extremely daunting to me when I first started out. Unless you have more patience than money to spare, go with P6. Hope this helps!

Probably most of those beautiful faces you are looking at were made with Victoria 3 at www.DAZ3d.com. If you're still using Posette, it will be much harder.
