Subject: HyperReal V3 3rd Party Texture Question

I'm running the updated HyperReal for V3 script and I'd like to use another V3 texture on the character instead of the Morris textures (which are awesome, btw). I setup the character texture, in this case Kalista Black by Vali, and HyperReal and then run the script. At this point it replaces Kalista's texture with the Morris textures. After running the script, do I go back and apply the Mat pose for Kalista then render? I seem to be missing something here. I will say this, the Morris textures work superbly with the script, even with the default settings! I'd just like to be able to use other character textures, as well. I'm also running Poser 6 if that matters. Any help would be great! Thanks

Uncheck the Use HyperReal Texturemaps box when you run the script. It will then use whichever texturemaps you've previously applied.

That was possibly the most dumb question you probably answered, but I think it was just the sheer excitement which allowed me to miss that checkbox! lol! Thank you so much for the help, Paul!

What is it wthey say.....there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers? Anyway that is definitely NOT the dumbest question I've answered!

Thanks for clearing this out. I just never asked. Which is (even) dumb(er).

I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)

OK, now that I have you here, Face_off G I have the HyperReal for M3 as well as the first Real Skin script... and so far I've been using the Real Skin shader script with V3, but.. CAN you use the M3 one with Vickie? (without the Mike texture of course) And when you use buth the Occlusion Master and the Hyper Real, which one should you run first?

bookmarking this one....I was curious about the Occlusion Master too.

I am not Face_off, but I'll try to answer this anyway... You should be able to run the Real Skin script on any figure that has the same materials/materialzones. About running HyperReal and OcclusionMaster... a short quote from the ReadMe... "If you are running the OcclusionMaster with the RealskinShader, HyperReal, or Realism Kit scripts, run these scripts PRIOR to running the OcclusionMaster. If you need to rerun the Realism Kits after running the OcclusionMaster, make sure the "Replace Existing Shade Network" option is UNCHECKED. If you run RealSkinShader or HyperReal after running the OcclusionMaster, you will need to rerun the OcclusionMaster - and the previous OcclusionMaster settings will be lost."

Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.

ernyoka - Yes, you can use HyperReal M3 on V3 with other V3 mat poses. The only thing is, you won't get the glossy lips option that is on the HyperReal V3 option. The HyperReal/OcclusionMaster order thing....ok, trying to keep this as simple as possible - here goes.... 1) Run HyperReal first 2) Run OcclusionMaster second 3) On the off-chance that you need to then rerun HyperReal (to change brightness, main light, specular, etc), you will then need to rerun OcclusionMaster. After rerunning HyperReal, your OcclusionMaster settings will be lost (it will return to the defaults - which you will probably be using anyway). So get everything right with HyperReal first, then tweak the AO nodes with OcclusionMaster. If you are running the Realism Kits (instead of HyperReal), you do NOT need to rerun the OcclusionMaster after rerunning the Realism Kit (if you ran the Realism Kit with the Replace Existing Shader Network option UNCHECKED). OK, hope I didn't confuse people.....

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

I have a related question about the HyperReal script - for some reason when I use HyperReal with other textures, the fingernails and toenails render black. Is there any way to correct this?

face_off posted Wed, 10 August 2005 at 8:38 PM

Render black? That's an interesting one! The HyperReal script doesn't touch the toe nail and fingernail materials. Do they render black prior to running the script? Is it possible you could email me a sample scene where this happens?

Attached Link: Using V3 MAT files with A3

I posted a message recently about modifying Aiko 3 to use standard V3 MAT Poses. A3 has three material zones on the legs where V3 has only one. Some people consider A3 to be a useful realistic figure with the Realistic morph, and there's also the Hiro figure with similar zoning. My original message has resulted in several replies describing other ways of adjusting material zones, and a teaser on a Python script which seems to greatly improve the options for editing and copying the actual materials. face_off's shaders are one reason to modify A3's material zones, and the other info may be of interest too.

Thanks AntoniaTiger. From memory, the HyperReal scripts don't cater for Aiko's additional skin materials, although a simply modifications to the script fixes that. The newer Unimesh Realism Kit correctly works with Akio with no modifications.
