Just was scrolling the various forums, something that I rarely do, as I spent most of mine time here at the Poser forum, anyway I just realized there wasn't really anyplace that I could find just post good news, hello's or things like that. I guess what I am talking about is a general forum. Didn't there use to be one here? Or something like that?
If there isn't one here, shouldn't we have one?
Just a thought

How would you keep it from becoming another C&D? (which I personally found very entertaining, and do miss, although I didn't have to clean up the mess and, understandably, it seems to have become a sizeable source of problems for mgt.) -- Yet, Commune's OT forum seems to work pretty well.

Hmmm I seemed to have missed that forum. Why not just let the topics go? you don't have to visit it and you don't have to read the posts, if it gets so bad that you are offended then don't go there. Allow vents raves and general madness. You go there at your own risk kind of thing. While I understand why the forums are structured and policed the way they are, I do find the dust ups entertaining and hated it when I see one locked.... Oh well off to tilt at more windmills....

It was titled "Complaint and Debate" forum, which may have tended to give it a rather confrontational tone from the get-go, as opposed to what you were suggesting -- but once you allow free unbound OT, for the crowd at that time at least, it did get pretty "in your face" at times and some folks got ticked, and complained when they felt others had crossed the line of reasonable public behavior. (I knew I had a period around here somewhere)

Try Cheryle's forum. She generously created it to replace the old OT forum here. I don't know what they discuss there, but it may include "dust-ups".

"Why not just let the topics go? you don't have to visit it and you don't have to read the posts, if it gets so bad that you are offended then don't go there." Because these sites went from being self supporting through their own contributions,to sites that are "Sponsored" by software developers and other businesses (Even non-art related sponsors). The sponsors don't like to be affiliated with un-moderated "vents raves and general madness". Well,...that is one reason anyway. I would wager, from my experience here over time, that there will never be a C&D,OT, Tavern, type of forum here. Tom

Try Cheryle's forum.<< Mateo..I'm sure the nice people here don't know who Cheryle is or where her forum is. Could you point us in the right direction, please?

I'd simply forgotten about Cheryle's. Just looked in and saw all sorts of familiar faces there. It does seem to have the feel of the old C&D forum here.

"It does seem to have the feel of the old C&D forum here." without the flame wars that alledgedly happened in C&D or OT, funny that eh?

"there wasn't really anyplace that I could find just post good news, hello's or things like that. I guess what I am talking about is a general forum. Didn't there use to be one here? Or something like that?" When people want to say hello. They usually have something else they want to say besides just hello. If it's a software question. Then it's ok to combine your hello OT message with the question in the software forums. If you want to make a statement to everyone on Renderosity. Post it to the community forum. The admins. will allow it as long as it doesn't get out of control. -ScottA

the election of '04 basically shut it down..it was another Dreyfus case over here, and the 2 sides were very far apart. The Tavern was fine for awhile, then one day, everyone went home, and I had to clean up the beer nuts..dust the patrons off once a week...;)
