Hiya!!! I just found out a really simple technique to create a sketch from a photo. Im sure its nothing new, and probably not even the best. But i have never gotten better results with any plug-in or filter. So i thought i would share it if anyone else would be interested...remember folks...me swedish...so bear with me, LOL: 1. Open your photo in Photoshop. 2. Convert to black and white. 3. Duplicate that layer. 4. Then invert the duplicated layer. 5. Chose "Color Dodge" as blending mode. You should have an all white canvas now. 6. Simply add some gaussian blur to that top layer...and voila. Play around with different pixels radius to get different results. Hope someone found this little information to be useful. This is what i did real quick. Enjoy your week will ya #:O) Andreas

Aaaw, thank you Kimmie. I would also have been more proud if i had actually used a pen and paper instead of mouse and layers. But had i done that i couldnt have posted it in this fine forum could i. I would have to go to the 2D one instead and i like it here...soooo much!!! Besides i cant draw even if my life depended on it, LOL.

I love the result! This is wicked!! I tried it but couldn't find that bloody ""Color Dodge" as blending mode." :(. I only have Photoshop elements2 though! Maybe that's why?? O_o

Will definitely try this with a Calloway shot....I used a sketch filter once on him, but did not look near as good as this.. Thanks

@Pascale: I have elements 2, works fine for me, color dodge is there under "screen" and above "linear dodge" Thanks Zacko, this is a great little tool, works heaps better than any plugin i've tried!

tibet2004uk posted Tue, 19 July 2005 at 10:06 AM

Screen?? I can't find that option nowhere either! :(

Zacko posted Tue, 19 July 2005 at 10:13 AM

I dont have Elements but if i did, i would have posted a screenshot of it...maybe you can do that Seekerr Galaxia?

i couldn't get the whole pull out box in the screen capture... but when you click on invert under layer at the top.. a box pops up... & there in mode: is a pull out of all the options... it's in there...

& thanks andreas!! i will definately try this!! :]

And here's the same thing, but shown in the layers pallette, and you can see the whole box in this one.
