I have been working with 3D programs for a few years now but have just started doing some modeling. I work a lot with my computers and am now having a lot of wrist strain as I use a mouse or track ball for everything. So my question is what type of input device are most of you using and how well will a tablet work for 3D modeling? Also Im using C4D as my modeling program at this point and will a tablet work with C4D? Thanks

I only use a basic wheel mouse. or a basic 3 button mouse. none of these fancy input devices at all.

For me the tablet gets used in painter/photoshop and a mouse for the modelling process.

I use a monkey a mouse is not intelligent enough. Now just a standard 3 button optical mouse. I was using a 3 button trackball but the middle button went bad and using Wings with no middle button is weak so I had to get a mouse.

Thanks for all the info, it was good to get all this feedback. My poor wrists have see way to many hours of 3D work and even more hours of World of War Crack (Craft) as of late.

Have you looked into 3D controlers like the SpaceBall? It works well with C4D, and reduces a lot of the abuse on your mouse arm. The biggest drawback to 3D controlers is that not all 3D applications are supported. and most of the "low end" and specialized applications are not supported (i.e. Wings3D, Anim8tor, Silo, Hexagon, Amapi, TrueSpace, Vue Esprit, etc.).All versions of C4D from 6 up have support for the spaceball and spacemouse.

I use a trackball and swear by it (Logitech). One single session playing a game though, will give me pain in my neck, shoulder and wrist for a week. :-(
