I want to save a texture MAT so that it can be applied to other characters. Commercial packages come with MAT injection morphs and I would really appreciate someone explaining to me how this is done and what software to use.

You can use Mat Pose Edit (free) from this site. http://koti.mbnet.fi/~ilaripih/MPEHome/ There's a tutorial also here in the tutorial section in creating a mat pose using this, by Mercytoo.nomuse posted Wed, 20 July 2005 at 12:51 PM
And just to keep our terminology straight; It's less confusing if "MAT" poses apply textures, "MOR" poses apply morphs, and "Injection" refers to the process of putting morph data into an empty channel.

Thank you for this advice. I have downloaded the software but am running into problems with the installation. The installer is asking me to put in a CD that I do not have?

Nomuse, I'm in two minds about your post. I agree that MAT poses are definatly MATerial poses, and MORph poses are dial settings for morph (targetGeom) channels. It's true that the term "injection" has come be be associated with "Delta Injection", however, technicaly any pose file is injecting something. A normal pose file created in the Poser interface injects 'keys' values for rotation and translation channels. A MAT injects material settings. A Geometry Injection pose injects a path to an obj file (or a geomCustom). Etc, etc. So when PXP uses the phrase "MAT injection" I feel this to be ligitimate and correct terminology, IMHO. Well that's my two cents worth ;)

I just went and downloaded MPE version 3.12 and it installed fine. Are you on a PC or Mac? If I remember correctly this is a PC software. There is also a tutorial link there on the page to help get you going.

Thank you Nomuse for the 'technospeak' lesson but I shall continue to use 'MAT Injection' and I thank Lesbentley for supporting me here. PXP

Heh. Les and I go way back -- on Poser tech, and on terminology. I personally have no problem with "injection" being used as a verbt; "this pose injects a new material" but as a noun I would like to reserve it for files that add something not present in the original; ERC slave injection, morph injection, maybe even MAT-DIV injection. There is also a subtle double-entendre in the usage "morph injection" as it was popularized by Vickie3, as the majority of the morphs mimicked injections of silicone. Still, I am no Safire; I'm willing to go with whatever the majority chooses. Outside of MAT poses, which are almost always include MAT in both the name of the function and often include MAT in the name of the file as well, there is no real standardization of terminology around Poser hacks. Even the term "ERC" gets much argument in certain circles.
