(Newbie) I was interested in creating digital comic books, and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good program(s). I have some experience with Poser 5, but I was going to buy the new Poser 6 as well as Shade Pro. My question is are these good programs for creating comic type art? Also, is it easy to transfer images from one program to the next? Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Well, I draw comics since I had my first Poser4. Really I think that any 3D software is good for create comics, but Poser is the most versatile for me. I work with Poser5/6 and Photoshop for the pages

I'm using Poser 6 and Serif PhotoPlus (which is similair to PhotoShop and PaintShop Pro, but imo much nicer to work with). For me, Poser has every feature need to create digital comics. PhotoPlus is being used for adding some special effects and touch ups. In the past I've used Vue 5 Pro for rendering and creating landscapes/backgrounds. That was before Poser 6 was released. Poser 6 has a light version MicroCosm included, to create landscapes and included many new rendering features, which I liked much better then the ones in Vue 5 Pro. From that time on, I've invested some money into Poser 6 and some add-ons (like MicroCosm 2.0 full version and a number of trees & plants). I'm much more pleased with the results. No need to go from on application to another, everything right at my disposal. I don't see why you would need Shade Pro at all and my advice would be to invest the money put aside for Shaoe Pro into some more poser content instead.
Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

I'm just coming to the last few pages (I hope) of a major digital comic project (currently at about 330 pages, with an average of 4-9 pictures per page. Since it's taken about 2 years to do, I started with P4 propack, only used P5 for a very short time (because I hated it and it took them so long to create a version that actually worked), and then moved on to the wonderful, wonderful P6. Like aeilkema, I've used various other bits of software for other projects, but the comic has been created entirely with Poser and Paint Shop Pro. I don't think you need Shade. Basically you can do everything you need with just Poser and a half-decent 2D program.

Shade can be useful if you want to create 3D objects. You don't need it for rendering, P6 renders very well, provided the scene is not too big. For complicated scenes with lots of characters and environment, I render in Vue 5 Infinite. You can render complete armies using the ecosystem feature. For simpler scenes, containing no more than 3 or 4 characters, I render in Poser 6. Its ambient occlusion, subsurface scattering and displacement mapping features are very, very powerful.

Thanks a lot for your help everyone. I was unsure about Shade, but the e-fronteir website made it sound necessary if you wanted to produce anything of quality. I'm getting Poser 6 as soon as possible.
