Where do you find/get Unity?

Don't quote me on this, but if it conforms to Vickie's head, that may preclude any possibility of "frankensteining".

How do you match the head texture with the body? Is the head UV-mapped to take V3's head texture?
Sofine posted Mon, 08 August 2005 at 11:19 PM
I can't get Unity to attach to a V3 body without leaving very visible lines around the neck where the join is , any ideas on how to fix this please ?
philebus posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 1:10 AM
I've bought Unity and am very pleased but while there I had another look at the other conforming head, Ezster. When she was released some time back, I was unimpressed and now I don't know why, this one also is excellent and will be getting my money next week.
TrekkieGrrrl posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 3:17 AM
Sofine, Unless you're using a V3 texture (and I haven't tried that yet, I only just got her) I think you'll need to postwork the seam away. Or dress her in something that covers the seam :o) And randyM, there's a bonus head that IS remapped to take V3's textures. I'm about to try that right now...

ernyoka1 Yes i'm useing Unity V3 uv's and the standard V3 hi res maps , I don't think Unity is user friendly :( well not for someone who just wants to make pictures not explore the technical wonders of poser .
randym77 posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 6:28 AM
Interesting idea, but I can't see paying $25 for just a head. Not when you have to fix those seams with postwork.
neftis posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 8:35 AM
randym77:She maybe is just a head to you, but I swear that she is more expressive than V3! ;) and with the morph pack you can achieve pretty amazing morphs work. (there is more than 240 morphs)
And now I have already fixed the back seams of the head...and will work on the rest this week too.
here is a render using Nikita original texture pack made for V3.
I'll keep you all posted!

She does not have any seams trouble with her own UVS!
But then what do you do about the body? Is she meant to be used only in shots from the chin up?

Here is a little mimic test I did for those who like to use this prog...I find it fun:) But then what do you do about the body? Is she meant to be used only in shots from the chin up? I am not sure I understand what you mean? she fairly blend with the body, when used with the neck blend zone, I created it as a "camouflage". You see this last bottom part of the neck has a transmap to help the blend. I made this render with no postwork at all...You may have to retouch sometimes some renders maybe...but like I said the blend zone is fairly good now.neftis posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 9:26 AM

Here is a final render of expression. Ain't she cute??:) Can't wait to see what people can do with her...And ernyoka1, I just love it!! that's what I call expressions LOL great work! MychelleMarque posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 9:54 AM
For that price you shouldn't have to retouch anything. Sorry but this one is off my list. Can't believe you released it with obvious problems. Marque
neftis posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 10:00 AM
Marque: You are talking about the bonus, ok I agree...But the main product with Unity's UVS has no obvious problems...And I said that I will fix the bonus V3 uvs. But thanks for posting your opinion.I respect it. Mychelle

ernyoka1 I love your renders!!!!!!!!!
she looks so cool! like for crazy advertising! WHO PAY YOU FOR THAT? LOL hahaha
I wonder what for hair you used? Kozaburo?
keep Up your great work!
I don't used V3 textures yet with the head so I can't tell more..... but I go right now into Deep UV and see it...
BTW for the neck body blend zone Neftis created the trans_maps so you don't have to make any post work for the line....
And I agree, she is very expensive, but with all the 240 morphs, it is the same that 241 head models you get so the price if fine and with the attention to details she created the morphs Unity is very unique... I love her and not because done by Mychelle, I was just tired of V3 too.

I agree that she's not cheap but I've got to ask myself some questions. Does it do what I want it to, does it do it well, and is there anything cheaper at that quality and functionality. This does what I need, it does it very well, and there is nothing else (save Ezster, which is stylistically different and on my shopping list for next weekend anyway) that can do it. It is very difficult to get good expressions from V3, thats why so many merchants make money selling expression packs! Also, it is very difficult to get morphs that don't look like variations of V3 without some custom morphs (though I feel SP fares better this way). Unity and Ezster both have unique looks to them without my having to resort to a new model. Its not often I'll spend this much on a single item but I had no hesitation with this because I know, as I do with a good Stonemason set or Wusamah outfit, I'll be getting good use from it.
Marque posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 2:45 PM
Yes but those artists are known for quality. When I see something released that is not finished I get hesitant. Don't get me wrong...I own most of the hair that neftis has done, but those were finished products and I still use them with no problems. I will wait on this until I see customers who have bought them with no complaints. Marque
Sofine posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 10:59 PM
Marque I had complaints about the V3 uv's and the difficulty I was having getting things to work properly , these problems have and are being addressed asap , as far as the product itself goes it far exceeds my expectations i'm not sorry I bought it .
MachineClaw posted Tue, 09 August 2005 at 11:00 PM
I do not understand this product at all. There is a Unity for Poser 4 conforming head product and a Unity conforming head product. I asume that one is for Poser 4, and the other is for ??? Poser 5? Poser 6? I dunno. Both products have the same exact descriptions. Only difference is one of the promo images says Poser 4 on it. Next there is no wireframe render shot, there is no poly count, no list morphs. I keep reading neftis say 240 morphs, but not included, they are seperate products? Please don't take this the wrong way. I love Neftis products, as well as Cath (Mec4D) textures. I just don't understand why this wasn't a morph pack for the existing V3 head, and a texture product. Why is V3 required if it's just a 3d head model? Could it not be used with Judy, Jessi, etc? I understand that the texturing is based off V3 so the head matches, but does that mean it's encoded? Why not Unity for Elle? Neftis OWN figure. I'm confused. I don't use Daz figures in my renders, only for clothing conversions using Wardrobe Wizard. Is this ONLY for V3? Is there a Body coming sometime?
philebus posted Wed, 10 August 2005 at 1:10 AM
The advantage of a new head, as oposed to a new morph pack for V3 is that a completely different geometry allows for a dramatically different range of faces - that won't just look like modified versions of V3 (who tends to be instantly recognisable, whatever her morphs), the geometry also affects the range and style of the expressions. The advantage to making this for V3 is that she is free - so everyone is bound to have her. It would be difficult to conform this to another figue due to the eyes, it could be done but it would be a bit tricky. So far as I'm aware, the Poser 4 and 5/6 versions differ just in material set ups. There are some morphs with the base package but, like V3, you need to buy the add on for the full range. I haven't checked out the polycount but the obj is 4mb, which is about half the size of the whole of V3, so its going to be pretty dense.
MachineClaw posted Wed, 10 August 2005 at 1:58 AM
Thank you for taking the time to try and address my post. However, exactly as my post states you really haven't answered anything. adding more geometry does not improve morphs. higher density doesn't mean better. all the geometry could be in the ears and it wouldn't help smile morphs, see what I mean. without seeing a wireframe or having more information it's exremely hard to understand the product. I'm not slamming the product. I am trying to better understand this particular product. I have seen some similar questions raised and not answered. Does this product require encoding or decoding? Sixus1 had a problem with cr2 with Daz, wouldn't this have similar issues? I'll wait and watch, and refrain from purchasing until something comes of this. since I don't use V3 it may just be a complete pass for me anyway.
philebus posted Wed, 10 August 2005 at 6:59 AM
I'm at lunch at the moment but I'll render a wireframe for you this evening. Granted, more geometry need not mean better morphs but different geometry does mean different morphs, which is the attraction of both these Polymage products to me. This difference in style may also be a matter of taste, so this won't perhaps be for everyone. I only really started playing with the morphs last night but so far I am impressed and finding it much easier to get a result than with V3. I'll try and render some quick expressions to post also, as there aren't enough on the promotional pages.

I should mention that I didn't bother to put a texture on the V3 body for these - and they are just the OpenGL preview images, not renders.
