That is just to cool. I loved the Jetsons when I was a kid. I always wanted one of these. Very cool work Kix!

Hey that's pretty nifty, now lets see it around the house or something, maybe with a sign or something.. I like it alot. Was it done from reference or memory? Steve

Lets see '... his boy Elroy!' :D

I did get a couple of images off the net before I started the project. I'm going to stare at this render for a few days before I decide what to do next. It's really close to finished for my taste at the moment. The color is actually a harder choice than I thought. References of the real show aren't forthcoming as much as I'd like.

I'm also investigating toon renders. Toon Pro may be in my future. The features that plug in offers are seductive. -Kix

Can you do a quick Toon render from what's available within C now? Maybe a non-realistic? Looks great Kix!

Kixum posted Thu, 11 August 2005 at 12:47 PM

Yes I can but there are line options in Toon Pro which are valuable. There are options in the current Toon feature in C4 which allow you to reduce the toon effect for objects. This turns out to be VERY useful for my final desired result. Toon Pro looks like it only allows you to scale the line effect. I'm going to have to download and try the demo before I decide. -Kix

For example, the soft shadows in this image look cool yes? That's because the floor in this image is a shadow catcher with the toon effect disabled. I need more than just the line effects reduced, the whole toon effect needs to be reduced. This is crucial in the Jetsons model because the Toon effect needs to be disabled for the glass dome. -Kix

Wow excelllent Jetson's image! Even the high rise buildings in the distance look like the ones in the show!

That is so cool Kixum! Love the Jetson's car! The buildings are great looking too. Now you just need an auto-doggy walk for Astro ;) Look forward to seeing this develop!

This is using the toon plug-in that comes standard with Carrara. I'm going to fuss with the Toon Pro demo this weekend. -Kix

I think that works great! :D But I am looking forward to seeing the comparison.

Toon! Pro will make a nice outline of the model for you.

You can also render a photo-real version and a toon version and combine them in post -- say Photoshop -- using different transfer modes and transparency levels to lessen the toon effect, or increase the photo effect. Looking great, Kix! - Dex

Parchment will do that if you have that plugin. But Toon! Pro is head and shoulders above Toon! II(I).
