I've been asked/invited to teach an online course on the basics of Ultra Fractal at the Visual Arts Academy (http://visual-arts-academy.com/index.html). The course will last 6 weeks -- with one new lesson presented each week. The lessons will be presented online -- with explanations, screenshots, images, parameters, etc -- and will be accessible at your convenience throughout the duration of the course. There is "homework" which is required if you wish to receive a certificate of completion, but that is entirely up to each participant. For those not interested in receiving a certificate, the homework assignments will give you a way to test your own understanding of the material presented.
The course will begin September 1st and cost $25. The material presented will focus on fundamental concepts, yet go beyond the scope of what is covered in the tutorials I wrote for UF's Help Files. My intent is to give each student a clear and systematic approach to working with fractals -- so that fractal exploration doesn't seem so random and mysterious. It's the system I use when exploring new fractal formulas and coloring algorithms. In addition to the written lesson plan each week, I will be available as a resource on the course's online forum to answer questions about the material and give guidance wherever I can.
The preliminary outline for the course can be found here:

General questions and answers about the Visual Arts Academy and how the courses work can be found here:

And you can register for the course here:

The course will be repeated, probably beginning November 1st and possibly again after that. I also have plans to offer other courses on more advanced techniques (like masking) in the future.
If you have questions about the course, please feel free to contact me privately at jp@infinite-art.com
