Oh shoot! BTW, BIG thanks to PsychoNaut for showing me how to hack my skin shader script to work for Miki. I'm grateful!! Laurie

This is my test rendering of Miki for experiment.

In this case, I chaneged iris image map, color of eyelashes, and color (and specular) of fingernails.
Iris texture map is scaled about 86% and it's for V3.
This IBL Light is rebuild from IBL light of P6 with face_off's IBL tutorial.

I also used RealSkinShader and Occlusion Master.

This is another rendering. Almost same as above, but rendered in Vue 5 Infinite.

I exported PZ3 file to Vue5I, so the material settings are also exported (like eyelashes color and nailcolor).
I also tested in D|S and Bryce-5.5, but when converting D|S to Bryce, the material settings disapeared.

Signed up and never was able to get into the free stuff so gave up. Will wait for Phil to do the ww for her. Marque

I'll have this out hopefully tomorrow for anyone interested.

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 9:16 PM

I don't believe that's a seam, at least not in the texture map (it's in the middle of the neck and the whole neck is on the tex map). I think it's where the mesh makes a steeper angle than the polys around it. Do you have polygon smoothing on? One thing I usually do as well in Poser 6 is turn the Minimum Shading Rate WAY down - it's default in firefly is 1.00 and I turn it down to 0.02 or even .01 (takes care of that really dirty look you sometimes get with bump maps). Try that. Could be the lighting too ;o). Laurie

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 9:18 PM

Wow TamiL! That looks great :o). I'll definitely have to whip up a few textures for it...LOL. Laurie

mathman ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 9:27 PM

LaurieA, thanks, yes I had poly smoothing set on. I will take on board the advice about the minimum shading rate.

TamiL ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 9:30 PM

I'll include some maps then!

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 9:37 PM

cobaltdream said earlier in the thread: "just to say, if people are worried about morphs and add-ons, she seems to already have some support in the japanese community.i've downloaded at least one item for her from poserclub, i believe, and there are lots of renders with her in their gallery if you want to preview." That's where I assumed there was something for Miki there. I checked and there is a face morph pack there for her; it was just me who assumed/wrongly remembered that it was clothing...LOL. Sorry to get ya'll excited for nothing...LOL. Laurie

pokeydots ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 9:43 PM

Where is the face morph pack? I can't find that either :o( Thanks

too lazy to put this up on my page right now ;)

TamiL ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 10:10 PM

Face morph pack is at PoserClub as I recall

PsychoNaut ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 10:25 PM

WOW LaurieA that's a sweet texture, you inspire! I also really like TamiL's clothes All the shots of this character are good You lot are fast!!! Question - Ytetsu - are you the modeler for this figure? Whoever made the figure, I really appreciate it. I've been trying magnets, wings3d, DAZ morphs; trying to get a good asian female and wow, this is it! You really did a superb job. Now if only I knew how to model and texture better... Some practice is in order!

pokeydots ( ) posted Fri, 19 August 2005 at 10:43 PM

I looked at Poser Club, and I'm not seeing it. What is it called?

Well, finally got to play with her, I love her expressions, they look so natural. I've been using the morphs from Poser Club - haven't even downloaded the face room module after what I've been reading here, probably wasted time since I'm on dial-up :( I hope they have a new installer Monday.

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 20 August 2005 at 12:11 PM

How did you use them? They didn't show up for me, just an emtpy dial. Marque

Well, I made sure the .pmd file was installed in the correct folder and then just clicked on the INJ pose. If you look below the FaceMorphs you'll see a new category in the head called Head Morph pack 01 and they're all there, just 11 but at least they're shaping morphs not just the expressins she comes with. Just checked, the .pmd file with the morphs should be in your characters library in a folder called Miki. I suppose if it's not there then maybe the injection pose doesn't work? Oh, and in preferences/Misc, I've unchecked the "Use external binary morph targets" command so I resaved Miki with these new morphs.

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 20 August 2005 at 12:28 PM

Please someone make a long nail morph? Thanks, Marque

Well, i had to give it a try... No face room, no morphs... but i still like her lots !

MarianneR ( ) posted Sat, 20 August 2005 at 6:45 PM

The Mac version seems to work fine in the face room. I don't know much about the face room and haven't tried to import any face textures, but I can apply the texture from the face room and the morphs work, both the dials and the green dots. I have Poser installed in the default location, the Applications folder, and I installed Miki to my main Poser 6 runtime.

Merlin ( ) posted Sat, 20 August 2005 at 7:13 PM

That's the explanation ! They developed it for Mac ! lol (joking)

LaurieA ( ) posted Sat, 20 August 2005 at 8:05 PM

Well, a lot of Japanese poser artists do use a Mac, so if it was originally set up on one... Who knows? Laurie

kuroyume0161 ( ) posted Sat, 20 August 2005 at 9:01 PM

That doesn't explain Deecey's success (using WinXP). Let's hope for a resolution on Monday. :) I have Poser 6 on my Mac also, so maybe I can get the file and try it out there (?).
