NO WAY!!!! If these were found on an alien planet we would say they were impossible, ...clouds just don't do that, nope not for anyone. I've never seen anything like this in my puff. Come on spill the beans Brian, these are like Pamela Anderson clouds (touched up to look nice and curvy) surely? Either that or its pass the LSD time, I need to sort that sky right out.

Nope... no fakery, those are real clouds! The name "mammatus" is aptly applied to them. Just googling on that will get you all sorts of interesting images, like this one: www.bom.gov.au/info/ skypix/cloud1.shtml or this: osender.free.fr/ CIEL/ciel.htm or the one which got put on a stamp: www.srh.noaa.gov/ lch/temp/cbmam.htm As you might guess, clouds which hang down like that do not promise nice weather... it is a good sign to get indoors and flat! A while back I posted a picture I took of clouds like those but not so exagerated. If you read about them you'll find they are in the tail end a storm. It is a kind of weird sign the storm is over.tibet2004uk posted Sun, 21 August 2005 at 1:01 PM

I have driven through Nebraska a few times and always figured it was one of the most boring places in existence. If only I would have looked up. Those are some very fascinating clouds. Thanks for sharing. :-)

TobinLam, I thought that clouds hanging down like that was one of the signs that it was "tornado weather"? Carolly
