So close to capturing fire the way I know it can be captured ... the way I want to capture it ... that I can almost taste it. It took me a while to realize it, but shooting fire isn't a science ... books on exposure and metering aren't going to help you. It's almost an artform. Ignoring all ambient light. Concentrating fully on the flames themselves and hitting the shutter button without thinking of when to hit it. Gets easier each time I do it; starting to feel natural. Wheeeee. :)

This is an un-edited shot. Could pull the exposure back on the flames and probably get even more detail.

In other news, one more thing to keep me from reading the forum regularly ... Monday I move into my own studio. It's not some 2000sq ft. super modern deal sitting on a hillside overlooking the Puget Sound (300sqft studio in the heart of the city), but it's gonna be all mine. 24/7 access, security building and did I mention mine? :)
