The Davros figure works in poser 6, so it probably works in poser 5, too, but you need the poser 4 male and his sweater for the file to work.

wow thanks this is great

I am glad you like it.

WOW! That actually works amazing well! Here's a thought, try applying the texture to the P4 male based character named Dr. Morpheen, a freebie at RuntimeDNA. It has a variety of morphs to purposely create "ugly mugs". A few tweaks should approximate Davros' oddly shaped skull. Xantor, have you attempted to create a Tom Baker texture in a similar fashion? I know Cobalt years ago used the Poser 4 male to create a surprisingly effective 4th Doctor. If you can do with Baker what you've done with Molloy, you'll have legions of fans worshipping at your feet! Sincerely, Bill

I'll bow down to that idea! ;) I loves my Tom Baker Doctor!

I havent tried making a tom baker character yet. The davros texture was made using photos and trying to make the parts fit.

xantor posted Wed, 24 August 2005 at 4:23 PM

This is dr morpheen with the davros texture. You could get better results than this, it was just to try it to see how it worked.

LostinSpaceman posted Wed, 24 August 2005 at 4:32 PM

Very nice! What he really needs now is a nice 3D Eyeball prop for the middle of his forehead. I haven't been able to get the texture displaced enough to make the eye pop out yet.

Redfern posted Wed, 24 August 2005 at 7:06 PM

Well, color me impressed! This map really works! I shaped the nose differently from Xantor, emphasizing the bump and bulb. I also scaled the head slightly and used the taper dial. Instead of the sweater, I used the turtleneck. Davros wore a leather version of a labcoat with a high collar. Finally, I plopped him in my chair with the headgear. Actually, a simple blue sphere prop with bright highlights should do quite well. Wisher's mask had a kind of mechnical eyelid partially covering his cyber-eye while Molloy's was a simple sphere partially embedded within folds of tissue creating a kind of natural eyelid. Sincerely, Bill

I'm thinking that Dork or Dr Morpheen just need a nice "BigBrain" morph to really do his bulbous head justice. I might work on that in Zbrush if I stay motivated long enough. ;) I found a cyber Eye prop in my runtimes that must be from your set Bill. I've got a Mimic clip animating him in the background right now or I'd fiddle with your props on him.

Very cool! That's really the P4 male? I never would have believed it! But, where are the Daleks? Davros was never seen without the Daleks around. :) --John

You want Daleks? Watch this:

PS for some reason my AVI to SWF converter cut's the sound off prematurely. SwishVideo the latest build.

xantor posted Thu, 25 August 2005 at 7:20 AM

I have made a dalek, it is more like the older ones but not a specific show one, it is not available yet.

I wanted to make a big brain morph for the davros figure but I am not so good at making morphs, posers tiny scale doesnt help either.

I also realized after the figure was available that the turtle neck would look better for the davros jacket.

Actually he didn't need a "Big Brain morph at all Xantor. Just Taper his head to about -20 and whala! Big headed Davros. I've updated the CR2 in the zip file online with the grey base color and the head taper settings.

LostinSpaceman posted Thu, 25 August 2005 at 2:29 PM

If you want I can swap out his Sweater for the Turtleneck as well.

xantor posted Thu, 25 August 2005 at 4:16 PM

I sent you a pm at lost in 3d about this.

LostinSpaceman posted Thu, 25 August 2005 at 7:21 PM

Your updated file is online with the readme file added. Now stop loosing my email address you big goof. ;)

xantor posted Thu, 25 August 2005 at 9:36 PM

ok The newer file has the turtle neck sweater and the grey base and the bases` shape has been fixed, too ( in the picture above you can see it is slightly wrong ). For the benefit of others reading the thread.

Here's the image for the latest figure update:

LostinSpaceman posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 9:56 AM

Oh, His head has a Taper setting of -20 in that latest image but you'll have to set it yourself if you want it that way. He comes in the zipfile with no taper setting.

xantor posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 2:09 PM

That latest picture you showed has the base wrong still. This picture shows the fixed base.

LostinSpaceman posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 2:35 PM

Hrm... that it does. Need to check my runtime I obviously loaded the wrong one.

LostinSpaceman posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 2:43 PM

LOL! Nope runtime was fine. Just uploaded the wrong picture.

xantor posted Fri, 26 August 2005 at 2:53 PM

To get the eye and headpiece you could use the one from vanishing point. It seems a bit pointless to remake it when the vanishing point one is there already.
