In the Material Room, at the top of the Material Window, select Props->Ground from the drop down to set a texture to it. To set the background, select Background in the same place. You'll get the hang of it! :)
C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the
foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg
off.

Ok Um I got that far..... :) Tried adding a texture but it still comes up grey.... (tried Diffuse colour with a texture among other things! )

Don't forget, by default the GROUND is set up as shadow catcher only. In the Material room select the GROUND and untick the appropriate option (near the bottom of the options). This will allow the actual ground texture to show. For reflections you must add a reflection node (to Refection_Color) and switch on ray tracing.
