Subject: Vue 5 to Vue 5i

Trouble ( ) posted Wed, 31 August 2005 at 8:00 PM ยท edited Sat, 19 October 2024 at 3:54 AM

I started a project in Vue 5, decided it would be easier to create an eco system forest in 5i. Saved my file in Vue 5 and 5i refuses to open it. I keep getting an unable to read file error message. So what gives? Another Vue 5i bug??? I have a rock from the hankster and a poser cat. Any suggestions would be most welcome as I don't want to have to start all over in 5i.

Is the Poser pz3 still linked to the scene? Means, that the file is automatically updated when you change the Poser cat. You can try out to simply ungroup the cat in Esprit (and regroup that again if you want to), save the file and try again! Will do a test as well.

I don't think Vue 5 links the poser file. At least I've always had to reload a figure if I changed it. I've even tried saving as a VOB and 5i won't even open that. But I'll try ungrouping and regrouping the cat and see what happens.

Yeah, my fault. Of course Esprit does not have this feature. Only with the related plugin i think. I just loaded an old Vue 5 scene into Infinite. And it came in smooth and complete. How big is the file? Is it posable to get it for tests?

I've opened Vue 4 scens in 5 and 5i with no problems this one won't go. :( It actually only three items, the rock, the cat and a point light. I can zip it and send it to you if you IM me where to send it.

Did you check the " incorporate texture maps" when saving your scene? This might be the problem, because the patch we rae using now in V5I had a bug regarding texture maps saved in the scene. If so, try resaving your scene in V5 withou t incorporating the texture maps, and see how it goes.

mmmm don't know. I just did my save file and placed and named it, like always, but I'll look and give that a try.
