Seeing as we've always been allowed to distribute custom morphs made from magnets and the Face Room is another tool within Poser I was wondering if we're allowed to distribute the custom morphs we create using the Face Room. If yes, then what would be the best way of going about it? I know Poser 6 has the .pmd option but I've switched that off and would like to make this MT compatible for all versions of Poser and/or DAZ Studio. Are compressed/squeezed .obj's still acceptable for distribution?

How do you turn off that pmd option?

Compressed objects are allowed for distribution, but remember the eye morphs will need to be included, too.

I was wondering if we're allowed to distribute the custom morphs we create using the Face Room.

There's only one problem with that, though. The only figures that work in the Face Room would only be compatible with Poser 5 and Poser 6.

But the way you would do it is create your face in the face room, and click Spawn Morph Target button that appears in the Actions button section of the face room. When you go back to the Pose room, open the Parameters window. You will see dials for the Head, Left Eye, and Right Eye. They will have some sort of generic name like Head1, RightEye1 and LeftEye1. Name them all something more descriptive (such as a character name). Go back and create another face room morph and do the same.

Save that character to the library (make sure that the Use Compressed Files option is checked off, and the Use External Morphs option is off). Your custom morphs will be saved in the CR2.

Then you might want to use Morph Manager to make sure there are no other morphs in the figure except the ones you created yourself.

Thanks Deecey, yes that's the way I do it, have been making custom faces in P5 as well but I was wary of distributing them. So, you think the .cr2 is a better option than the squeezed .obj? I thought of that but figured the file size would be bigger so I'll do it both ways and compare. Thanks for the tip xantor :)

Can't the face be saved as a .fc2 "face" or "expression" and passed around like that? Cheers, Cliff

who3d it cant be done like that because the face room doesnt just use standard morphs.

Yeah, I thought that might be the case :( You can guess how often I use the Face Room! Cliff
