I've tried using different codecs to make Poser animations but none seem to have the result I'm looking for. I'm using a PII 366 with 64mb of RAM. (I know I need to upgrade.) I'm just not sure if it's the system or the codec. Which do you guys/gals like to use and why? Just Jim

Try DivX ;-), available at http://divx.ctw.cc/. Excellent compression ratio.

The Divx player is miserable on Macs.

The best all around codec is Sorenson, unless you are dropping it to tape for broadcast. Works great on Macs and PC.

Are you talking on "make movie" or for internet streaming? For make movie, I always use uncompressed. For streaming, the MS mpeg4 is the best quality I've found, and uses the nice standard Windows Media Player. While Mpeg 4 and Real 8 are much better than QuickTime's sorenson, the one area QT still stands out heads and shoulders is in fraame by frame navigation of the movie. If you want your uses to be able to examine the movie frame by frame, use QT. You can see a variety of movies compressed with the free Win Media Encoder, Real Producer, and Sorenson, at the link below. There are also some links to some tutorials covering WiMP and web video there.Digit8r posted Sat, 03 March 2001 at 3:18 AM
