Try using an arched shape maybe like a church window or door. Boolean it to your ground or terrain/snow. The arch would be a negative and would not appear in the ground leaving only its shape...aka footprint.....I'm thinking you'd need 2..one for the heel and a longer, more pointed one for the sole......

you can use terrains. Just import a scanned image of your feet or of your shoe. then abjust a bit the image in greyscale.
it should be easy (i think)
let me know

Or, look for a black and white footprint gif or bmp (I may have one you can use), create a new bmp using it to create a walking pattern. Gausian blur the hell out of it. Resize it to 512x512 (just keep a mental note of the original proportions) and import it into Bryce to use as a terrain.

i saw a tut somewhere about this...for the life of me i can't find the site it was on. I do remember the person said he went to a beach that had firm sand, walked on it for a few steps then took a photo of the footprints. he then imported the image into PS and made a greyscale from it then imported the greyscale image into bryce terrain editor...now this is going from memory so i hope i got it correct for you..
I have opinions of my own -- strong
opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.
